LSC Scholar-Athletes distinguished for 2021-22

The annual Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete Award winners were announced on Thursday, with nearly 30 student-athletes recognized by league officials.

Each academic year, the LSC presents a Scholar-Athlete Award to one male and one female student-athlete at member institutions. These student-athletes are selected as representatives of the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship and leadership that are displayed on each LSC campus during the year.

To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have participated at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class.

Besides representing 15 of the league’s member institutions, this year’s recipients represent 16 of the 18 sports that are sponsored by the conference.  Baseball, men's tennis, men's track and field, volleyball, women's basketball, and women's golf had the most Scholar-Athletes with three each, while men’s golf and women’s track and field had two selections. Football, men's basketball, men's soccer, men's cross country, softball, women's soccer, and women's tennis each had one.

The 2021-22 Scholar-Athletes led their respective teams to four conference championships and three tournament titles.

Texas is home for 15 of the recipients, with two from Argentina and Kansas, along with one each from Arizona, Brazil, Finland, Germany, Jamaica, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Scotland.
