LSC Golf Weekly Release - Week 1

GOLFERS OF THE WEEK
CO-MEN’S
Trevor Mierl, Cameron, SO, Exercise Sports Science, Austin, Texas, Anderson HS
Mierl finished tied for fourth with a 213 total (72-73-68) in The Writz at Mile High event.  He made 12 birdies, helping Cameron finish in third place out of 11 teams.

Unger led the way on the course for the Buffaloes this past week as the junior finished tied for fourth overall at The Writz at Mile High hosted by Colorado Christian at Bear Creek Golf Club in Lakewood, Colorado.  The Karlstad, Sweden native fired rounds of 69, 75 and 69 for a total score of 213 (-3) as the Buffs finished fifth as a team during their first tournament of the fall. Unger registered 13 birdies during the event highlighted by six in Sunday's opening round.
 
CO-WOMEN’S
Jordan Karrh, DBU, SO, Marketing, Frisco, Texas, Trinity Christian Academy
Karrh led the top-ranked Patriots to a first place finish at the UIndy Fall Invitational in Carmel, Indiana and claimed top medalist honors after winning a tightly-contested playoff battle with Lee University's Supuschaya Srinchanantamit. The redshirt sophomore carded a career-best 9-under par 207 (69-67-71) scorecard. Her 207 through 54 holes is the fourth-lowest score in school history and helped lift DBU to a win in a tournament that featured eight nationally ranked teams, including three in the top 10.
 
Tristan Gabbard, Midwestern State, FR, Economics, Fulshear, Texas, Fulshear HS
Gabbard became the first student-athlete to win her debut in Midwestern State women's golf history. The freshman from Fulshear fired a pair of par-or-better scores (71-77-70) on the way to winning The Swan Memorial by four strokes with a 2-over total of 218. Gabbard also became the third freshman in program history to win a tournament joining 2015 NCAA Division II national champion Brenna Moore and 2015 Lone Star Conference medalist Sierra Campbell. Moore and Campbell both claimed wins in their third collegiate tournament.
