LSC Cross Country Weekly Release - Week 3

LSC Cross Country Top Times - As of 9/21/22 (PDF)

Three Lone Star Conference cross country teams recorded top three finishes last week, including the No. 21 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs, who recorded a second-place finish at the Texas Tech Open. DBU's 25th-ranked women's team finished third at the Roadrunners Invitational in Denver, while the Patriots recorded a third-place finish in the men's race.

RUNNERS OF THE WEEK 
MEN'S
Jeb Williamson, DBU, JR, Computer Science, Kaufman, Texas, Kaufman HS
Williamson led the Patriots to a third-place team finish at the Roadrunners Invitational on Saturday in Denver, Colorado, after posting a time of 24:40.7 in the 7.8-kilometer race to place 19th overall in a field of 131 runners. Williamson averaged 5:05.5 per mile in the high-altitude of Colorado.
 
WOMEN'S
Florance Uwajeneza, West Texas A&M, SR, Nursing, St. Paul, Minn., Como Park Senior HS
Uwajeneza won the Texas Tech Open for the second consecutive year, leading the Lady Buffs to a runner-up finish behind Oklahoma Sooners. Uwajeneza remained undefeated at the Lubbock Christian Cross Country course during the regular season as the senior completed the 6-kilometer race in 20:58.2, over 30 seconds ahead of second place. Of the 105 runners, she was the only one to finish under 21-minutes as she registered her sixth victory in the Maroon & White.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MEN'S
Rowan Flores, Western New Mexico, FR, Mathematics, Española, N.M., Los Alamos HS
Flores helped Western New Mexico to a sixth-place finish in a loaded field at the Texas Tech Open on Saturday. The New Mexico native posted a 41st-place finish in his first collegiate race, finishing the 8-kilometer course in 26:36.1. That time topped all Division II freshmen in a race that included three other LSC teams.
 
WOMEN'S
Rachel Malik, UAFS, FR, Imaging Sciences Sonography, Lucas, Texas, Lovejoy HS
Malik set a new program record in the 5k as she paced UAFS at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday in Joplin, Missouri. Malik ran a 5-kilometer time of 18:05.51 to place in 35th, smashing the previous mark set by Kandace Young at the same event a year ago by over 20 seconds.
