West Texas A&M scored a perfect 15 points to run away with its 11th straight Lone Star Conference men's cross country title on Saturday at the Eastern New Mexico University Cross Country Course in Portales, N.M.
William Amponsah, the LSC Newcomer of the Year, set the tone for West Texas A&M, covering the 8k course in a winning time of 23:35.57. Teammates Enrico Oddone (24:08.84), Aziz Mohamed (24:30.39), Harry Louradour (24:31.85) and Louis Moreau (24:40.22) finished 2-3-4-5.
The Buffs' 15 points match the LSC men's championship record held by former member Abilene Christian who totaled 15 points four times, the last in 2004.
MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS:

Dallas Baptist (79) placed second among the 13 teams with Angel Luera finishing seventh and Adam Whitehead 15th. Colten Brown's ninth-place individual finish led Oklahoma Christian to third-place (82). Western New Mexico (98) placed fourth and St. Edward's fifth (146).
LSC Freshman of the Year David Soto placed 13th in pacing UT Tyler to sixth-place (153) followed by Cameron (seventh, 202), Texas A&M International (eighth, 237), Angelo State (ninth, 275) and Lubbock Christian (10th, 283). UAFS (320), Texas A&M-Kingsville (344) and Eastern New Mexico (392) completed team scoring.
In addition to the individual awards, the all-conference honorees were announced. Angel Luera and Adam Whitehead of Dallas Baptist; Tegen Arega and Colten Brown, Oklahoma Christian; Josphat Langat, Texas A&M International; Soto, UT Tyler; Amponsah, Oddone, Mohamed, Louradour, Moreau, Adrian Legarreta and Jay Hall of West Texas A&M; and, Rowan Flores and Elias Perez, Western New Mexico.
Next Up: Lone Star Conference men's cross country teams set sights on the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Cross Country Championships on November 4. The meet will be held in Lubbock, Texas and hosted by Lubbock Christian University.
