LSC Men’s Golf Postseason Honors Announced

Oklahoma Christina sophomore Exequiel Rodriguez was named the 2023 Lone Star Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Year to lead the annual postseason men’s golf awards announced by league officials on Sunday (April 16) at the championship banquet.
 
Exequiel, who is from Buenos Aires, Argentina, is the top-ranked golfer in the South Central Region with a 70.85 stroke average. He has one individual title, seven top-10 finishes in nine events played. He never finished outside the top 25 and also led the Eagles to a team title at the NCAA Division I-heavy UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
 
Exequiel topped the men’s first team that also included teammate Alejandro Armijo, Midwestern State’s Garrett Leek and Mason Mikeska, Texas A&M International’s Mauricio Figueroa and UT Permian Basin’s Sangha Park.
 
Park also took Newcomer of the Year honors, while Cameron’s Chris Somerfield was tabbed Freshman of the Year.
 
Oklahoma Christian’s David Lynn earned the Coach of the Year Award after leading the Eagles to the top ranking in the South Central Region heading into the conference tournament.
 
In total, 15 players earned recognition. The awards are voted upon by the league coaches.
