RUNNERS OF THE WEEK

 

MEN

William Amponsah, West Texas A&M, Jr., Sports & Exercise Science, Agona Swedru, Ghana (Swedru School of Business)

William Amponsah outdistanced the 87-runner field to post a 14:29.2 time to win the Big Country Festival 5k race. The junior's individual win led No. 9-ranked West Texas A&M in a sweep of places 1-7 for the team title (15 points).

 

WOMEN

Kay Cee Keller, DBU, Jr., Biblical Studies, LaVernia, Texas (FEAST)

Dallas Baptist junior KayCee Keller won the DBU Orville Rogers XC Opener, posting a meet record time of 18:01.6 in the 5K event. Keller's performance led DBU to a 16-point score and a team victory to open the 2023 season.


 

FRESHMAN RUNNER OF THE WEEK

 

MEN

Noah Watt, West Texas A&M, Fr., Communications, Amarillo, Texas (Amarillo HS)

Noah Watt ran a 15:43.5 over the 5k Big Country Festival course to finish seventh as the top freshman finisher in the race, helping No. 9-ranked West Texas A&M to the team title and a 1-7 place sweep.

 

WOMEN

Sarah Koomson, West Texas A&M, Fr., General Studies, Adom Banso, Ghana (Kumasi Girls Sr. HS)

Sarah Koomson got her collegiate cross country career started in impressive fashion with a first-place finish at the Big Country Festival. Koomson posted a 18:31.7 time over the 5k course and led the No. 16-ranked Lady Buffs to the title in the eight-team race.
