The DBU Old Glory Gallop highlights a big weekend on the Lone Star Conference men's and women's cross country Saturday schedules (Oct. 5). Six men's and eight women's conference teams are expected among competing teams heading to Grand Prairie, Texas and Lynn Creek Park. … Eastern New Mexico hosts the men's and women's Greyhound Invite, welcoming four women's and two men's LSC teams to Portales. … West Texas A&M takes its two teams to the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Ky. Buffs senior William Amponsah won the 2023 8K CC Gold title in 2023 (23:08.6).
 
Week 3 Racing
Lubbock Christian and Angelo State flipped team placings between the men's and women's NMJA Invitational II (Sept. 27). LCU was third and ASU fourth in the men's 8K while ASU placed third and LCU fourth in the women's 5K. UT Permian Basin was sixth in the women's race. … Both DBU squads ran at the Chile Pepper Festival (Sept. 28) with the women placing seventh in the Harter's Habanero 5K and the men 17th in the McDonnell Memorial 8K. … At the OSU Cowboy Jamboree (Sept. 28), Oklahoma Christian and UT Tyler finished 10-11 in the women's 6K. UT Tyler was 13th and OC 15th in the men's 8K team standings. … Western New Mexico men posted a fifth-place team finish at the Dave Murray Invitational 8K in Tucson, Ariz. (Sept. 28). … The Eastern New Mexico teams and the WNMU women's squad ran the New Mexico Highlands XC Jam. There was no team scoring for the women's 5K or men's 7K races (Sept. 27).

WOMEN
Lesli Salas, DBU, So., Commercial Art, San Angelo, Texas
DBU sophomore Lesli Salas placed 20th in a field of 249 competitors at the Chile Pepper Festival, recording a time of 17:07.3 for the 5K race. Salas averaged 5:30.6 per mile to earn the Top 20 placing and helped lift DBU to a seventh-place team finish in a field of 27 teams, including 10 NCAA Division I programs.
 
MEN
Aaron Perez, Western New Mexico, Sr., Kinesiology, El Paso, Texas
Aaron Perez posted a personal-best and Western New Mexico 8K record time at the Dave Murray Invitational. The senior came across the finish line at 24:26.1 for a 22nd place showing against a packed field of NCAA Div. I competitors. Perez' performance led the Mustangs to fifth place in the team results.

WOMEN
Kinley Kite, Oklahoma Christian, Fr., Early Childhood Education, Norman, Okla.
Kinley Kite ran her debut 6K collegiate race, posting a 22:58.5 at the OSU Cowboy Jamboree. The Oklahoma Christian freshman was the highest finishing Division II first-year finisher, placing 53rd among all runners in the 16-team field and helping OC to 10th place.
 
MEN
Bryan Hernandez, Eastern New Mexico, Fr., Graphic Design, San Elizario, Texas
Freshman Bryan Hernandez led Eastern New Mexico runners at the New Mexico Highlands XC Jam, covering the 7K course in 24:45.9 for sixth place. Hernandez' time is the best recorded in the last three seasons by an ENMU runner at the meet.
