Ten teams – five men and five women – wrap-up the pre-Lone Star Conference Championships season with competition scheduled Friday and Saturday (Oct. 11-12). … Angelo State and Western New Mexico sends both men and women to the NMJC Invitational-III at Hobbs, N.M. on Friday. … Texas A&M-Kingsville men's and women's teams head north to Romeoville, Ill., and the Lewis University Crossover on Saturday. … Texas A&M International and Sul Ross State men and women are scheduled to compete at the West Side XC Classic hosted by Our Lady of the Lakes University on Saturday morning.

Live in Lou Classic Gold: West Texas A&M men claimed the individual title, third place and three spots among the Top 30 runners to score 76 points for second place and just two points behind Michigan in team standings. WT senior William Amponsah defended his individual title, covering the 8K course in 23:21.0, 13 seconds ahead of the runner-up. … The WT women were the top non-Division I team posting a fourth-place finish. Three Lady Buffs claimed Top 30 finishes led by Naomi Addo at No. 18 (17:26.8). …
DBU Old Glory Gallop: DBU finished third and Midwestern State ninth to lead the list of eight LSC teams in the women's 5K. DBU's Leslie Salis (1st) and Megan Williamson (9th) were joined by UT Tyler's Macy Cogburn (20th) among the Top 20. … On the men's side, four LSC teams finished among the Top 10 teams with Western New Mexico (3rd) and DBU (4th) followed by UT Tyler (7th) and Texas A&M International (9th). UT Tyler's David Soto covered the 8K course in 23:52.2 for second place and TAMIU freshman Donald Kipsang claimed ninth in 24:23.9. …
Greyhound Invite: Bryan Hernandez led Eastern New Mexico to runner-up in the men's team standings, posting a fifth-place individual finish in the 8K race. … Midwestern State was second in the women's 6K team standings as Isabel Hernandez posted a second-place finish.

WOMEN
Lesli Salas, DBU, So., Commercial Art, San Angelo, Texas
Lesli Salas finished first in a field of 415 runners at the DBU Old Glory Gallop (Oct. 5), crossing the finish line with a 5K course record time of 17:05.9 and leading DBU to a third-place team finish against a field of 47 teams. The sophomore's performance is the top 5K time among Lone Star Conference women this season.

William Amponsah, West Texas A&M, Sr., Sports & Exercise Science, Agona Swedru, Central, Ghana
Competing for the first time in the 2024 season, West Texas A&M senior William Amponsah picked up a win at the 23rd Annual Live in Lou Classic (Oct. 5) posting a 23:21.0 over the 8K course and leading the Buffs to runner-up in team standings. It is the fastest 8K time among Lone Star Conference men this year and is the second straight season he has taken first in Louisville.

WOMEN
Naomi Addo, West Texas A&M, Fr., Accra, Ghana
Naomi Addo led the way for the Lady Buffs as West Texas A&M finished fourth at the 23rd Annual Live in Lou Classic (Oct. 5). The freshman ran a time of 17:26.8 in the 5K race to finish 18th overall and helped WT to a fourth place finish in the 29-team field.
MEN
Dennis Cheruiyot, West Texas A&M, Fr., Eldoret, Kenya
Dennis Cheruiyot impressed during his first collegiate race as the West Texas A&M freshman finished third at the 23rd Annual Live in Lou Classic (Oct. 5) recording a 24:00.2 time in the 8K race. Cheruiyot's performance helped the Buffs to a runner-up team finish.
