Division II South Central Regional Results
Lone Star Conference cross country teams found themselves in unfamiliar course conditions on Saturday (Nov. 9), battling cold temperatures and a frosty trail at the NCAA Division II South Central Cross Country Regionals in Denver.
William Amponsah, the 2024 LSC men’s individual champion, claimed a runner up finish to lead West Texas A&M to a third-place team showing in the men’s regional that came with a trip to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship on November 23 for the Buffs team.
Amponsah posted a 31:17.0 over the 10k course trailing men’s medalist Roman Legendre of Adams State by 23 seconds. The Buffs scored 105 points behind the top 15 performances of Harry Louradour (9th/31:42.54) and Adrian Legarreta (11th/31:48.4). Matthys Bourse (31st/32:28.87) and Dennis Cheruiyot (52nd/33:23,39) completed WT scoring. Colorado School of Mines won the men’s team title with 40 points.
In the women’s 6k race, West Texas A&M’s Naomi Addo, Kalkidan Vincendeau and Eliette Chaput each finished among the top 25 and helped the Lady Buffs to fifth place among the 25 teams with 136 points. Addo ran 22:17.73 for 17th while Vincendeau was 19th (22:28.06) and Chaput 24th (22:50.36). DBU sophomore Lesli Salas finished within the top 30, taking 28th (22:58.55). Adams State won the women’s regional title scoring 37 points.
In addition to West Texas A&M, three other LSC men's teams claimed Top 15 South Central Regional finishes: St. Edward’s at 9th (305), DBU at 13th (408), and Western New Mexico 14th (428).
Four Lone Star Conference women’s teams joined West Texas A&M among the Top 15 teams: Dallas Baptist at No. 10 (292), Oklahoma Christian in 11th (316), Cameron at 14 (436) and Midwestern State in 15th (446)

Next: The 2024 Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships are Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, Calif. Thirty-four teams will be selected for each gender’s national meet. The top three team finishers from the eight regionals earn automatic qualification and 10 at-large teams are selected by the Division II Cross Country Committee. Following determination of teams, a minimum 24 additional individuals are selected.
