The Lone Star Conference men’s basketball regular season is complete and the LSC Men’s Basketball Championship is set for March 7-9-10 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
 
The eight teams to qualify for the conference tournament (as determined by the conference-only standings) are: No. 1 seed West Texas A&M (regular season and West Division champions); No. 2 seed DBU (East Division champions); No. 3 seed Lubbock Christian; No. 4 seed Eastern New Mexico; No. 5 seed Angelo State; No. 6 seed St. Edward’s; No. 7 seed Texas A&M International; and No. 8 seed Cameron. LSC tournament tickets are available and you can also watch on the LSC Digital Network (each game is $15. However, fans who have a monthly or yearly pass will have access to all games).
 
WT has won six straight LSC tournament titles. TAMIU is making its first appearance in the event. ENMU enters on a league-best five-game winning streak.
 
In the latest NCAA Division II South Central Regional rankings released on Feb. 28, the LSC had six teams listed: No. 1 WT; No. 3 DBU; No. 6 ENMU; No. 7 LCU; No. 9 ASU; and No. 10 CU.
 
After the close of the regular season, ENMU has the league’s top-scoring offense (89.9 points per game), while Texas A&M International is tops in the conference by allowing just 65.1 points per game.
 
Individually, ENMU’s Jahcoree Ealy leads the league in scoring at 20.7 points per game, followed by DBU’s Cameron Kahn (20.1) and WT’s Larry Wise (19.9). UTPB’s Lathaniel Bastian pulled down a league-high 10.4 rebounds per game, followed by St. Mary’s Lachlan Bofinger (8.8) and LCU’s Tiras Morton (8.2). St. Edward’s Blake Nielsen is the LSC’s assists leader (5.2 per game). WT’s Ryland Holt has the most blocked shots (42), while DBU’s Ta’Jay Dunlap and Texas A&M-Kingsville’s C.J. Smith average a league-high two steals per game. Midwestern State’s Pierre Sanders has the best assist to turnover ratio at 2.7.
 
LSC teams carry a combined 42-33 (.560) record against NCAA Division II non-conference opponents. Region-by-region: South Central (RMAC) 21-20; Atlantic 1-0; Central 13-8; East 1-0; Midwest 1-1; South 2-0; Southeast 1-0; and West 2-4.
 
The league’s all-conference and all-academic a­wards will be announced on Wednesday evening (March 6) at the LSC’s Basketball Championship Banquet. You can watch the announcements for free on the LSC Digital Network.

OFFENSIVE
Cameron Kahn, DBU, G, Sr., Sports Management, Sulphur Springs, Texas (SSHS)
Kahn averaged 24.5 points on 73.9 percent shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in just 41 total minutes of action to lead DBU to a pair of wins over UT Tyler. Kahn, who won the league’s top weekly defensive award twice this season, also added seven steals. He made 3 of 5 shots from 3-point range and hit 12 of 14 free-throw attempts. Kahn is the league’s second leading scorer at 20.1 points per game.
 
DEFENSIVE
John Achebe, Texas A&M International, G, Sr., Business Administration, Wylie, Texas (WHS)
Achebe had a double double (21 points, 11 rebounds) with four steals to help lead Texas A&M International to a 78-53 road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville that secured the seventh seed in the LSC tournament. It will also be the Dustdevils’ first appearance in the event. Achebe, who added four assists, led a unit that held TAMUK to 40 percent shooting. Seven of his rebounds were on the defensive end.
