DBU senior defender Parker Coe claimed the Lone Star Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Year Award to highlight the league’s postseason awards, it was announced Wednesday (Nov. 12) by league officials at the LSC Championship reception in Dallas, Texas.
Coe, who is from Carrollton, Texas, also took home the LSC Defensive Player of the Year Award. She led a unit that surrendered just five goals over 17 matches and totaled 13 clean sheets. Coe added five goals and four assists as the Patriots won the conference title and earned a No. 1 national ranking.
DBU also had the Midfielder of the Year (Anne Louthan), Freshman of the Year (Skylar Belanger) and Coaching Staff of the Year (head coach Marcus Wood and assistants Cory Marr, Caroline Havard and Allyson White).
St. Mary’s junior Elena Kossler doubled as Forward of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. Angelo State senior Melyna Martinez was voted Goalkeeper of the Year.
Coe, Louthan, Belanger, Kossler and Martinez were also all named to the All-Conference First Team. Belanger also headlined 13 players on the All-Freshman Team.
Overall, 46 student-athletes were honored by the all-conference program, which also included a Second and Third Team. The awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches.
