Lone Star Conference women’s soccer league play continues, and just two teams remain unbeaten: No. 2 DBU (8-0) and No. 12 Midwestern State (7-0-1). No. 19 Texas Woman’s (7-1) and Lubbock Christian (4-1-3) have lost just once.

DBU (11-0) and MSU (11-0-1) are also still unbeaten on the season.

DBU is scoring a league-best 3.82 goals per game, while MSU and TWU have allowed just two goals all season.

DBU sophomore midfielder Sydney Hopper was honored with having the National Goal of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization (IWSOC). She hit the top corner from 30 yards out in a win at Angelo State on Sept. 16.

DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. DBU’s McKenna Vela and Kenzi Tufts, and UT Dallas’ Melyna Martinez were voted preseason players of the year.

The LSC women's soccer tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for Oct. 30 (first round), Nov. 2 (quarterfinals), Nov. 5 (semifinals) and Nov. 8 (final). The first round and quarterfinal matches are played at the site of the higher seed. The semifinals and final rounds are hosted by the No. 1 seed.

All LSC women’s soccer teams are eligible to win the regular season title and advance to the LSC and NCAA Division II postseason tournaments.

OFFENSIVE
Riley Sims, West Texas A&M, MF, Jr., English & Education, Harker Heights, Texas
West Texas A&M junior midfielder Riley Sims had four goals – including one hat trick – to fuel a 2-0 week. In a road match against St, Mary’s, Sims got WT on the board after trailing 2-0. The Lady Buffs came back to win 4-3. Against Angelo State, Sims recorded the fastest three goals in program history, scoring in the 2nd, 10th and 14th minute. She scored the only goals in the match. Sims became just the sixth player in the LSC to record a hat trick this season.

DEFENSIVE
Mardie Frye, Texas Woman’s, D, Fr., Kinesiology, Burleson, Texas
Texas Woman’s freshman defender Mardie Frye spearheaded two shutouts and added a penalty kick over a 2-0 week. Frye and company allowed just one shot – none on goal – in a 4-0 road match against ENMU. Frye’s PK provided the insurance in a 2-0 match against UT Tyler. Frye played all 180 minutes of both matches.

GOALKEEPER
Emma Wright, Lubbock Christian, GK, Sr., Sport Management, Longview, Texas
Lubbock Christian senior goalkeeper Emma Wright did not allow a goal and made six saves to help the Lady Chaps to a 2-0 week.
