Lone Star Conference women’s soccer league play continues, and just two teams remain unbeaten: No. 3 DBU (6-0) and No. 21 Midwestern State (5-0-1). No. 12 Texas Woman’s (5-1) and UT Tyler (4-1) have lost just once.
DBU is still unbeaten on the season at 9-0.
DBU is scoring a league-best 3.89 goals per game, while MSU has allowed just one a goal in 10 matches.
DBU sophomore midfielder Sydney Hopper was honored with having the
National Goal of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization (IWSOC). She hit the top corner from 30 yards out in a win at Angelo State on Sept. 16.
DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the
preseason poll. DBU’s McKenna Vela and Kenzi Tufts, and UT Dallas’ Melyna Martinez were voted
preseason players of the year.
The LSC women's soccer tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for Oct. 30 (first round), Nov. 2 (quarterfinals), Nov. 5 (semifinals) and Nov. 8 (final). The first round and quarterfinal matches are played at the site of the higher seed. The semifinals and final rounds are hosted by the No. 1 seed.
All LSC women’s soccer teams are eligible to win the regular season title and advance to the LSC and NCAA Division II postseason tournaments.

OFFENSIVE
Ashley Washburn, DBU, F, Sr., Christian Ministry, The Woodlands, Texas
DBU senior forward Ashley Washburn posted her second hat trick of the season and helped the No. 3-ranked Patriots to a 2-0 week in conference play. On the road against Eastern New Mexico, Washburn hit the game-winner in the 11th minute then added scores in the 46th and 65th minutes. Washburn has two of the five hat tricks in the LSC this season (she registered her first one on Sept. 9 against Sul Ross State) and leads the league in goals (nine) and assists (nine). Her play has helped DBU to a 9-0 start.
DEFENSIVE
Bella Rose, Midwestern State, D, So., Business Finance, Wichita Falls, Texas
Midwestern State sophomore defender Bella Rose captained the No. 21-ranked Mustangs to an unbeaten week, including a shutout of No. 12 and previously unbeaten Texas Woman’s. Rose, who wins the league’s top weekly defensive award for the second consecutive week, also assisted on the only goal in the undefeated matchup. Her play helped limit the Pioneers to just one shot on goal. Rose played all 180 minutes over the matches against TWU and Lubbock Christian.
GOALKEEPER
Breanna Wooten, Oklahoma Christian, GK, Sr., Business, Wylie, Texas
Oklahoma Christian senior goalkeeper Breanna Wooten fueled a 2-0 week in league play with six saves and a shutout. Wooten had a clean sheet against Sul Ross State then allowed just one goal with three saves on the road in the Eagles’ first win over Angelo State in program history. Wooten, who is allowing less than a goal a game (0.67), also helped the Eagles to go on their first three-game conference win streak in the Division II era.
