No. 5 Central Washington, No. 10 UT Permian Basin headed to playoffs

Lone Star Conference football champion Central Washington and league runner-up UT Permian Basin are headed to the NCAA Division II Football Championship, it was announced Sunday evening (Nov. 16).
 
No. 5 CWU (10-1, 9-0 LSC) earned the league’s automatic bid, while No. 10 UTPB (9-2, 7-2 LSC) received an at-large bid in the field of 32 teams.
 
In the first round on Saturday (Nov. 22), CWU will host No. 15 Western Colorado (9-2) at 3 p.m. CT and UTPB will travel to No. 4 CSU Pueblo (10-1) for a 2 p.m. CT kickoff.
 
Following the second round (Nov. 29), quarterfinals (Dec. 6) and national semifinals (Dec. 13), the national championship game is set for Dec. 20 at McKinney ISD Stadium in McKinney, Texas. The national title game is co-hosted by the LSC.
