HITTER
Brevin McCool, Lubbock Christian, INF, Sr., Biology, Hobbs, N.M.
Lubbock Christian senor infielder Brevin McCool set an all-time Lone Star Conference record by hitting four home runs in a single game, and those four homers came in the series finale against No. 3 Angelo State to secure a 3-1 series victory. McCool, who wins the league’s top weekly offensive award for the second time this season, also homered in Game 1 of the series and now leads the country with 17 home runs. He was one home run shy of tying the all-time NCAA Division II record, but is the first to hit four this season. Over the four home games at Hays Field, McCool had eight hits, drove in seven runs and scored six times. He was also intentionally walked once during his historic game on March 10.
PITCHER
Julius Carpio, West Texas A&M, RHP, Jr., Business Administration, Dimmitt, Texas
West Texas A&M junior right-hander Julius Carpio was dominant out of the bullpen, tossing 6 1/3 shutout innings to earn the win on the road over No. 7 UT Tyler. Carpio scattered four hits – all singles – struck out four batters and walked only one in the series finale that gave the No. 23-ranked Buffs a split in the four-game conference series.
