Lone Star Conference football season is officially underway.
Week 0 featured eight games – half on Thursday and half on Saturday. No. 21 Central Washington, No. 13 Angelo State, UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico all started their seasons with victories. UTPB upended No. 5 and defending MIAA champion Central Oklahoma, 34-14. Texas A&M-Kingsville and Western Oregon were idle. To read the recaps, click

The highest offensive output in Week 0 was CWU with 516 yards and five touchdowns against Colorado Mesa. WNMU also found the endzone five times against Adams State. Defensively, ASU surrendered just 268 yards and allowed only one TD against Fort Hays State.
Week 1 will feature nine teams in non-conference action (Sul Ross State has a bye). WT has the only Thursday game. Everyone else is set to play Saturday.

OFFENSIVE
Kennedy McGill, Central Washington, QB, Jr., Sports Management, Bothell, Wash.
Central Washington junior quarterback Kennedy McGill passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the No. 21-ranked Wildcats to a 41-14 win over Colorado Mesa. McGill was 8 of 13 passing for 190 yards and had 13 carries for 135 yards. His two passing TDs were each over 50 yards and his longest rush was for 41 yards. His first rushing TD came with 12:37 left in the third quarter to make it a 14-0 game.
DEFENSIVE
Tristan Exline, UT Permian Basin, LB, Jr., Human Performance, China Spring, Texas
UT Perman Basin junior linebacker Tristan Exline had nine tackles – one for loss – one sack and one interception to help the Falcons upset No. 5 Central Oklahoma 34-14 in the season opener for both teams. Exline, the LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, also had two quarterback hurries against the defending MIAA champions. His interception came in the third quarter in UTPB territory. Exline returned it 15 yards to set up a field goal that made it a three-possession game.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Angel Diaz, UT Permian Basin, K, So., Undecided, DeSoto, Texas
UT Permian Basin sophomore kicker Angel Diaz notched four field goals and two extra-points to help the Falcons to a season-opening 34-14 win over No. 5 Central Oklahoma. Diaz was good from 44, 39, 24 and 20 yards out. He had two field goals in each half. Diaz also put four of his eight kickoffs through the end zone to help upend the defending MIAA champions.
