The first Lone Star Conference women’s soccer league matches of the season are in the books. Three squads started off 2-0: No. 5 DBU, No. 25 Texas Woman’s and UT Tyler. Oklahoma Christian is 1-0 and Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State are 1-0-1.
 
TWU’s offense leads with a scoring average of 3.5 goals per match. The Pioneers are tied with DBU for tops in defense, allowing just .33 goals per match.
 
Conference play resumes on Wednesday (Sept. 24) with seven games, followed by seven more on Saturday (Sept. 27).
 
DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. St. Edward’s Annie Rocha, DBU’s Parker Coe and TWU’s Amanda Farris were voted preseason players of the year.
 
The LSC women's soccer tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for Nov. 7 (first round), Nov. 10 (quarterfinals), Nov. 13 (semifinals) and Nov. 16 (final). The first round and quarterfinal matches are played at the site of the higher seed. The semifinals and final rounds are hosted by the No. 1 seed.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
Mia Chambliss, Lubbock Christian, F, So., Biochemistry, Lubbock, Texas
Lubbock Christian sophomore forward Mia Chambliss came off the bench and scored goals against both Sul Ross State and Angelo State to help the Lady Chaps to an unbeaten start to conference play. Chambliss netted the equalizer during the 70th minute of a 1-1 road draw with defending league champion ASU. Chambliss only took two shots on goal and connected on both.
 
DEFENSIVE
Parker Coe, DBU, D, Sr., Education, Carrollton, Texas
DBU senior defender Parker Coe anchored shutouts of Angelo State and St. Mary’s to help the No. 5-ranked Patriots continue their perfect start to the season. Coe, who is the LSC’s Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, led a unit that allowed just three shots in a 2-0 win over defending conference champion ASU. In a 3-0 road match against StMU, Coe also netted a goal and dished out an assist.
 
GOALKEEPER
Robbi Curry, UT Tyler, GK, Jr., Psychology, Allen, Texas
UT Tyler junior goalkeeper Robbi Curry recorded a pair of shutouts with six saves to open conference play with two wins and help the Patriots tie the best start in program history at 5-0. Curry played all 180 minutes against UT Permian Basin and Texas A&M International. She had two saves in a 1-0 road match with UTPB.
