Top Times, Men & Women
One month remains until the Lone Star Conference Championships and both men’s and women’s teams are using this weekend’s competitions as a mid-season measure. ... Four events are scheduled Friday (Sept. 26). Cameron hosts the Cameron Invitational II while DBU, Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, Oklahoma Christian and UT Tyler are the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree. Angelo State, Eastern New Mexico and UT Permin Basin compete in the Dr. Steve McCleery Invitational in Hobbs, N.M., with DBU, Sul Ross State and UT Dallas at The Hill Cross Country Classic (Hillsboro, Texas). ... Western New Mexico teams travel to Riverside, Calif., and the UCR Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 27)
A Light Week Three
Only two LSC teams were in action in week three as both Texas A&M International and Sul Ross State competed in the Mountaineer Hill Country Invitational in Kerrville, Texas.
- Mountaineer Hill Country Invitational (Sept. 20): Texas A&M International finished one-two-three among individuals to win the men’s 8k (53 pts.) and claimed four top 10 finishes to finish second in the women’s 6k (30 pts.). Ian Rono won the men’s race (23:26.6) while teammates Paul Barmao (26:19.4) and Alan Hernandez (26:52.6) were second and third. Fancy Jelagat was the women’s overall winner (23:11.6) followed by teammate Brenda Chapkemboi in second (23:22.1). ... Sul Ross State opened its 2025 season with Ariana Escalante finishing 15th (26:18.7) in the women’s race. Manuel Flores was the top Lobos runner on the men’s side (36th, 30:25.0).
Targeting Postseason
The 2025 schedule shows Lone Star Conference teams racing every week from September 4 through October 18 building toward the October 25 LSC Championships at the
AP Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas. Teams will get a look at the conference course when DBU hosts its Old Glory Gallop on October 11. ... General information about the 2025 LSC Cross Country Championships

NCAA Championship season begins with the South Central Regional November 8 at Walking Stick Golf Club in Pueblo, Colo. Teams and individuals who qualify out of the regional will head north to Kenosha, Wis., and the Wayne E. Dannehl National XC Course for the November 22 Division II National Championship.

WOMEN
Fancy Jelagat, Texas A&M International, Fr., Pre-Nursing, Eldoret, Kenya
Fancy Jelagat won the individual title at the Mountaineer Hill Country Invitational covering the 6k course in 23.11.6. The freshman’s performance pushed Texas A&M International to second place on the team list, and she was one of four Dustdevils runners among the Top 10 finishers.
MEN
Ian Rono, Texas A&M International, Fr., Nursing, Eldoret, Kenya
Texas A&M International freshman Ian Rono collected a second consecutive individual title in a school record time, winning the Mountaineer Hill Country Invitational 8k clocking a 23:26.6 -- almost three minutes ahead of the runner-up. Rono’s time is the best 8k time recorded in the Lone Star Conference this season as he led the Dustdevils to the team title.
