LSC Golfers to Watch list announced

The 2026 Lone Star Conference Golfers to Watch list was announced on Thursday (Jan. 29), with two representatives from each of the conference’s 13 women’s and 12 men’s teams.
 
The 50 student-athletes were nominated by their member institution.
 
Cameron, DBU, Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, St. Mary’s, Texas A&M International, new league member UT Dallas, UT Permian Basin, UT Tyler, West Texas A&M and Western New Mexico all have women’s and men’s teams. Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville have only a women’s squad, while Oklahoma Christian has only a men’s team.
 
LSC women’s golf has been played since 1998 and LSC men’s golf began in 1941. DBU is the defending conference champion on the women’s side, while Midwestern State won the 2025 men’s title. The DBU women are also the defending NCAA Division II national champions and have won the national trophy three times over the last five years.
 
The 2026 season begins as early as Feb. 2 (Monday) for the women and Feb. 9 (Monday) for the men. To see the teams’ schedules, click here for women and here for men.
 
Four LSC women’s teams were ranked in the final Division II Mizuno Women’s Golf Coaches Association Coaches Poll of the fall: DBU (2), UTT (6) StMU (15), WT (23) and MSU (receiving votes). Three LSC men’s teams were ranked in the final Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll of the fall: StMU (9), WT (11), UTPB (15), DBU (RV), OC (RV), MSU (RV) and UTT (RV).

The LSC Golfers to Watch list includes 11 golfers inside the top 50 of the Scoreboard (powered by Clippd) national rankings. DBU’s Ella Cheek (4), UTT’s Martha Laremark (7), DBU’s Gracie Grant (14), UTT’s Arnie Taguines (22), WT’s Kara Holm (41) and StMU’s Taylor Wilczek (45) are ranked on the women’s side, while STMU’s Kongpop Kaikaew (9), WT’s Santiago Caride (17), MSU’s Seth Bearden (24), WT’s Luis Palomo (28), UTPB’s Ione Rowe (36) are ranked on the men’s side.

The LSC Women’s Golf Championship is set for April 13-15, while the LSC Men’s Golf Championship is scheduled for April 20-22 –  both at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club in Rockwall, Texas.
 
The NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship is set for May 12-16 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship is scheduled for May 18-22 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
 
Note:
  • As an NCAA Division II provisional member, UTD’s golf teams are eligible to participate in the LSC tournament but not the NCAA postseason. The Comets are also eligible to win postseason awards.
