The Lone Star Conference fall golf season now heads into Week 4.
 
The DBU women (WinStar Invitational) and UT Permian Basin women (Oklahoma Women’s Intercollegiate) have won tournament titles, while UTPB’s Lorena Etxeberria (Oklahoma Women’s Intercollegiate) West Texas A&M’s Mia Hammerschmid (WinStar Invitational) and Carlos Fernández Mortera (Travis Roy Memorial) have won individual crowns.
 
The LSC Women’s Golf Championships are set for April 12-14 at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club in Rockwall, Texas. The LSC Men’s Golf Championships will take place the following week (April 19-22) at the same location.
 
St. Mary’s (women) and Cameron (men) are the defending conference champions.
 
The NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Super Regional (South Central and West Regions) will take place May 3-5 at Victoria Club in Riverside, Calif. The national tournament is set for May 10-15 at Mission Resort Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
 
The NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Super Regional (South Central and West Regions) will take place May 6-8 at The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas. The national tournament is set for May 17-21 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE GOLFERS OF THE WEEK

WOMEN’S
Lorena Etxeberria, UT Permian Basin, Jr., Mechanical Engineering, Mungia, Spain
UT Permian Basin junior Lorena Etxeberria birdied her last two holes to win medalist honors by one stroke and led the Falcons to their first team title in program history. Etxeberria had the only round under par (-1) and finished with a 76-70—146 card at the Oklahoma Women’s Intercollegiate at Lawton Country Club in Lawton, Okla. She was tops in birdies (seven) and par-5 scoring average (4.38). Etxeberria also became just the second golfer in program history to win an individual title, joining Arnie Taguines (2022).
 
MEN’S
David Vega Gerstel, West Texas A&M, So., Finance, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
West Texas A&M sophomore David Vega Gerstel carded a 9-under 72-64-68—204 to post a top-5 finish at the San Juan Intercollegitae at The Bridges Golf & Country Club in Montrose, Colo. Gerstel, who is the reigning LSC champion, tied for the lowest round of the tournament with his 64. He had 17 birdies overall with eight of them coming in that round. Gerstel also tied for the best par-five scoring average (4.17) in the field of 75 golfers.
