The Lone Star Conference fall golf season is in full swing.
 
The DBU women have won a tournament title (WinStar Invitational), while West Texas A&M’s Mia Hammerschmid (WinStar Invitational) and Carlos Fernández Mortera (Travis Roy Memorial) have won individual crowns.
 
The LSC Women’s Golf Championships are set for April 12-14 at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club in Rockwall, Texas. The LSC Men’s Golf Championships will take place the following week (April 19-22) at the same location.
 
St. Mary’s (women) and Cameron (men) are the defending conference champions.
 
The NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Super Regional (South Central and West Regions) will take place May 3-5 at Victoria Club in Riverside, Calif. The national tournament is set for May 10-15 at Mission Resort Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
 
The NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Super Regional (South Central and West Regions) will take place May 6-8 at The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas. The national tournament is set for May 17-21 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE GOLFERS OF THE WEEK

WOMEN’S
Brooke Yount, UT Dallas, Jr., Finance, League City, Texas
UT Dallas junior Brooke Yount carded a 2-over-par 72-74—146 at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz. Yount, who is the defending LSC medalist, tied for sixth place in the field of 87 golfers. Her play helped the Comets record a fourth-place finish at the Golf Club of Estrella.
 
MEN’S
Carlos Fernández Mortera, West Texas A&M, Sr., Business, Gijón, Spain
West Texas A&M senior Carlos Fernández Mortera carded a 7-under 74-67-68—209 to win the individual title by one stroke at the Travis Roy Memorial at The Powder Horn Golf Community in Sheridon, Wyo. Mortera had a tournament-best 18 birdies. His par-four (3.90) and par-five (4.42) scoring averages also led the field of 72 golfers. Mortera’s play helped the Buffs to a fourth-place finish.
