With three weeks remaining in the Lone Star Conference men’s basketball regular season, DBU (18-6 overall) and No. 11 Eastern New Mexico (19-3 overall) are tied for first place at 12-2.
 
DBU topped No. 7 Lubbock Christian (20-4, 11-3 LSC) 80-75 in a first-place showdown in Dallas, Texas on Saturday night. ENMU has won a league-best seven consecutive games and is unbeaten away from home (10-0).
 
Western New Mexico (17-5, 11-4 LSC) is receiving votes in the national poll for the first time in program history. No. 19 St. Edward’s (20-4, 9-4 LSC) has won four games in a row.
 
In non-conference play, LSC teams have gone 40-24 against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams.
 
ENMU senior forward Jose Murillo was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches/NCAA Division II Conference Information Directors of America National Player of the Week on Dec. 2.
 
DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. St. Mary’s senior guard Damani Claxton was voted preseason player of the year.
 
The LSC men’s basketball tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for March 5, 7-8 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Tickets will go on sale Friday (Feb. 13).
 
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, UT Dallas and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC tournament but are able to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.

OFFENSIVE
Fontaine Williams Jr., West Texas A&M, G, Jr., Psychology, Wichita, Kansas
West Texas A&M junior guard Fontaine Williams Jr. averaged 25.5 points to goa long with five rebounds and four assists to fuel a pair of road wins at Cameron and Oklahoma Christian. Williams Jr. was 6-for-13 from 3-point range, made 21 of 23 free-throw attempts and had two steals. He tied a season-high with 29 points against Cameron to help snap the Buffs’ five-game skid. Williams Jr. has scored 20 or more points 12 times this season and reached double figures in all but one game.
 
DEFENSIVE
Jhordan Ryan, Angelo State, F, Jr., Kinesiology, St. John’s, Montserrat
Angelo State junior forward Jhordan Ryan averaged 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks to guide the Rams to wins over Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State. Ryan also averaged 17 points and chipped in two assists as the Rams won their third straight game. Against WNMU, Ryan and company held the Mustangs to a season-low 52 points. Against SRSU, Ryan had a 20-point, 11-board double double in a 69-51 game.
