Lone Star Conference men’s soccer is two weeks in. All 11 teams have played at least two matches.
 
Defending NCAA Division II national champion Midwestern State (2-0-2), Texas A&M International (2-0-1) and UT Tyler (1-0-1) are still unbeaten.
 
MSU was voted the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. MSU’s Parker Plaxco, Davis Mays and Jake Morris were voted preseason players of the year.
 
The LSC men's soccer tournament will be comprised of the top six teams and is scheduled for Oct. 30 (quarterfinals), Nov. 4 (semifinals) and Nov. 7 (final). The quarterfinals will be held on campus of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds; the semifinals are hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seed; and title match will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
 
All LSC men’s soccer teams are eligible to win the regular season title and advance to the LSC and NCAA Division II postseason tournaments.
 
Longtime MSU head coach Doug Elder was recently named to the LSC Hall of Honor.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE MEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
Eduardo Fernandez, St. Mary’s, F, So., Finance and Risk Management, San Antonio, Texas
St. Mary’s sophomore forward Eduardo Fernandez had four goals and two assists to fuel a 2-0 week, including a road win over No. 9 Rogers State. Fernandez had a hat trick – just the second in the LSC this season – on three shots on goal and also registered an assist against Sul Ross State. He scored the game-tying goal in the 60th minute against Rogers State, then assisted on the game-winner in the 66th minute that led to the Hillcats’ first loss of the season. Fernandez now has five goals and two assists over his last three games – all Rattler wins.

DEFENSIVE
Lewis Boney, St. Mary’s, D, Fr., Business and Law, Leeds, Yorkshire, England
St. Mary’s freshman defender Lewis Boney fueled a 2-0 week against No. 9 Rogers State and Sul Ross State. Boney and company shut out Rogers State in the second half of a 2-1 road match and allowed SRSU to take just one shot (none on goal). Boney added three points against SRSU (one goal in the 21st minute and an assist on the 16th minute).
 
GOALKEEPER
Milo Paci, Lubbock Christian, GK, Jr., Economics, Troyes, France
Lubbock Christian junior goalkeeper Milo Paci had 12 saves over two matches to help the Chaps have an unbeaten week, including a draw with No. 15 Fort Hays State. Paci made eight saves against Fort Hays State. He earned the win against Newman. Paci has made 20 saves over his last three matches and has two of the league’s top 5 single-game save performances this season.
