Central Oklahoma shot nine-under-par 279 in Wednesday’s final round to claim the 2011 Lone Star Conference Men’s Golf Championship. The annual league event, which features 11 men's teams, is being held at Randolph Oaks Golf Course in San Antonio.
UCO, who led all 54 holes, won its fourth LSC crown and first since 2003 with a five-under-par 859 (284-296-279). Colby Shrum led the Broncho effort at four-under 68 to claim individual medalist honors at nine-under-par 207 (67-72-68). The senior also won the LSC title in 2009.
It was three-person race for individual medalist honors between Shrum, West Texas A&M’s Ben Hargis and Northeastern State’s Casey Nelson. Shrum finished with a par on No. 18 avoiding a play-off with Hargis and Nelson who each finished a stroke back at 208 (-8).
The men’s all-tournament team included Shrum, Hargis, Nelson, Abilene Christian’s Alex Carpenter, UCO’s Andrew Green and Cameron’s Brady Porter.
Cameron finished second with a four-over 868, while ACU was third at six-over 870.
