Angelo State is the lone unbeaten team in Lone Star Conference action at 9-0 in league play.
LSC volleyball teams are 169-142 overall this season. The squads are currently 22-15 combined against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, the other league in the NCAA South Central Region.

OFFENSIVE
Bina Njikam, Texas A&M-Commerce, SR, Public Health, MB/OH, Keller, Texas, Keller HS
Njikam was a Swiss Army knife for the Lion offense last week, hitting from all three positions at various times for A&M-Commerce in their two road victories. She tallied 34 kills over the weekend as well as eight blocks, averaging nearly six points per set while hitting an efficient .364, mainly as an outside hitter. The senior from Keller, Texas totaled 11 kills in the team's sweep of Cameron, hitting .375 while also adding five blocks. She then had a career-hitting day against UAFS, totaling a career-high 23 kills to go with three blocks while hitting .357 against the previously unbeaten in LSC play UAFS team. In both matches, Njikam was moved around the court, hitting from both outside hitter positions as well as also playing middle blocker at times.
DEFENSIVE
Sofia Tonga, Tarleton State, SR, Kinesiology, MB, Laie, Hawaii, Kahuka HS
Tonga continues to be one of the nation’s most elite defenders at the net. The senior from Laie, Hawaii averaged 10.0 blocks per match and 2.50 blocks per set while leading Tarleton to a pair of wins in three matches last week. Tonga started her week with a 10.0-block performance on the road at Texas Woman’s. After just 3.0 blocks in Friday night’s quick sweep of DBU, she followed up Saturday at DBU with a school-record 17.0 total blocks – breaking a 24-year old record held by Marissa Galich from 1995. In addition to her school record, it was also the first career double-double for Tonga who finished with 10 kills against the Patriots Saturday. For the week, Tonga totaled 23 kills on a .320 hit percentage with 30.0 total blocks and 40.0 total points. With Tonga controlling the net, opponents hit just .118 against the Texans last week.
SETTER
Celeste Vela, Texas A&M-Commerce, SO, Industrial Engineering, Setter, Guadalajara, Mexico, Technológico de Monterrey
Vela led the Lion attack that averaged 16.6 kills per set last week. The sophomore from Guadalajara, Mexico ran the Lions' 6-2 offense nearly to perfection, averaging an impressive 9.3 assists per set while guiding the team to a .257 hitting percentage. The Lions had 17 or more kills in five of their seven sets on the weekend. Vela had 27 assists in the team's sweep of Cameron, guiding the team to a .438 hitting percentage while averaging nine assists per set. She then had a career-day against UAFS, totaling a career-high 38 assists (9.5 assists per set), guiding the Lions to the road victory. Vela also was a force to be reckoned with as a server, recording four aces while also chipping in 14 digs and a block.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Alexa McAndrew, St. Edward’s, was nearly unstoppable this weekend as the Hilltoppers didn't drop a set in a pair of 3-0 wins over TAMUK and TAMIU...McAndrew led with 20 kills against Kingsville and had no errors and a .500 attack percentage against TAMIU. She also added 18 digs, averaging 3 per set.
Talleyshia Morris, Texas A&M-Kingsville, crafted a hitting percentage of .368 during a week in which she piled up 29 kills and made only four errors in 68 total attacks. She totaled eight kills with a single error in TAMUK's first matchup of the week against St. Edward's. In a five-set win over St. Mary's, Morris set career highs in kills, with 21, and total blocks, with 11, for her first double-double of the year. Her 11 rejections included four solo blocks and she also hit .450 in 40 attacks, while helping lead her team to a victory that kept them in first place in their division.
Kailyn Gilbreath, Angelo State, was an offensive force to be reckoned with for ASU. She totaled 21 kills against Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M with an average of 3.5 kills per set. She also added two service aces, five digs, and 1 block. Her hitting percentage for the weekend averaged out at a .632 as the Belles swept the Greyhounds and Lady Buffs.
Tatyana Tuialii-Umi, Tarleton State, continued her dominant senior season as the right-side hitter from Bell, California led Tarleton with 42 kills in 12 sets over three matches last week. Tuialii-Umi averaged 3.50 kills per set on a .304 hitting percentage. She topped double digits in kills in two of the three matches, including a 20-kill effort at DBU Saturday. Tuesday night, Tuialii-Umi boasted a double-double performance in Tarleton’s top-hitting performance of the season (.322).
Avery Moore, Lubbock Christian, helped LCU to a 1-1 week with 24 kills on the week. Her high on the week was a 15-kill performance in a win over Eastern New Mexico. Along with her 24 kills, she also had 10 digs and 4.0 blocks. Moore led LCU on the week with 26.5 points (3.8 per match).
Emma Eakin, DBU, helped lead the Lady Patriots to a 2-1 mark last week and notched a career-high 23 kills in a five-set win over No. 22 Tarleton on Saturday. In DBU's victory over Southeastern Oklahoma on Tuesday, Eakin recorded 17 kills and a .438 hitting percentage. Following a loss to Tarleton on Friday, Eakin led DBU to the upset win over the Texans with 23 kills, while also registering three blocks.
Kyana Alvarez, UT Tyler, recorded a team season-high of 21 kills along with 20 digs in UT Tyler's 5-set road win over Cameron, its first Lone Star Conference road win. Alvarez is the first UT Tyler player with a 20-kill, 20-dig match this season.
Rachel Williams, UAFS, with three powerful performances, has played a major role in propelling UAFS to a 1-2 week against Oklahoma Baptist, UT-Tyler and Texas A&M Commerce. She had a season-high 18 kills in the five-set loss to Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday and continued in a dominant fashion with 16 kills against UT-Tyler on Friday. Overall, Williams recorded total of 37 kills, 38 points with 9 digs and .200 hitting percentage.
Janiya Chapman, Midwestern State, recorded her first double-double of the season in Saturday's four set win over Western New Mexico. The freshman set season highs in kills with 14 and digs with 11. She also blocked three shots. Chapman recorded at least seven kills in each of Midwestern State's three matches.
Jasmine Gannon, Eastern New Mexico, recorded her third double-double of the year with 11 kills and 11 digs against Lubbock Chrisitan. Tallied a season-high five blocks against LCU. Leads the squad with 138 kills and 149 digs.
Maddie DeGuire, Lubbock Christian, helped LCU to 1-1 week, leading the squad with 44 digs, averaging digs on a pace of 6.3 per set. She had back-to-back 20+ dig performances, posting 23 against West Texas A&M and 21 against Eastern New Mexico. DeGuire also posted a pair of aces on the week, increasing her team lead to 27 on the season. Her 23 digs against WTAMU came in a three-set match, marking the second time this season she surpassed 20 digs in a three-set match.
Nicole Murff, Texas A&M-Kingsville, continued her outstanding sophomore campaign with another excellent week at the libero spot, averaging 6.25 digs per set over her team's two matches. In only three sets against St. Edward's, she logged 18 digs without a receive error and contributed six assists. In a Javelina victory over St. Mary's, Murff led all players with 32 scoops, the third time in 2019 she's topped 30 digs in a match.
Lexy Lewis, UAFS, once again led the UAFS team with 47 digs over the three matches. She was a dominant presence on defensive end helping the Lady Lions hold their opponents to a .121 hitting percentage. Lewis recorded 22 digs against Oklahoma Baptist, 7 digs against the UT-Tyler and 18 digs against Texas A&M Commerce.
Savannah Guzman, UT Tyler, recorded her ninth consecutive match with double-digit digs after an 11-dig effort against UAFS and a 19-dig performance in a 5-set road win over Cameron.
Alyssa Pevehouse, DBU, helped the Lady Patriots to a 2-1 record last week, including an upset win over No. 22 Tarleton. Pevehouse totaled 29 digs on the week, including 15 in the Lady Patriots victory over the Texans on Saturday.
Morgan Preston, Angelo State, was an immovable wall of defense for the No. 21 Belles. She tallied 11 total digs for ASU. She averaged 1.83 digs a set and kept her opponents to a mere .189 hitting percentage.
Shelley Chapron, Texas A&M-Commerce, was a steady presence at the net for the Lions' last week, totaling double-digit blocks as A&M-Commerce picked up a pair of divisional road wins. The senior from Houston, Texas tallied 11 blocks, including four solo blocks, averaging 1.6 blocks per set. In the team's sweep of Cameron, she had four blocks, including two solo blocks as well as 12 kills, hitting .800 in the match. Against UAFS, Chapron had seven blocks and two digs as well as eight kills as A&M-Commerce handed UAFS its first conference loss. The middle blocker also had three digs and three aces. Including her 20 kills, Chapron averaged 4.4 points per set while leading the Lion defense, holding opposing hitters to a .167 percentage.
Maya Smalls, St. Edward’s, was a difference maker defensively against the Javalinas, posting seven blocks in the three set match as the Hilltoppers swept TAMUK Friday. Smalls added two more blocks in a quick, three-set match against TAMIU on Saturday.
Sarah Eakin, Midwestern State, continued her strong net presence for Midwestern State, compiling 14 blocks over three matches last week. The senior has blocked at least four shots in five of the Mustangs' last seven matches. Eakin also smashed 26 kills last week and currently sits in ninth place in the Lone Star Conference with a .323 hitting percentage.
Bree Perry, St. Mary’s, helped lead the Rattlers to a split, defeating Texas A&M International and losing in five to Texas A&M Kingsville. In the win over TAMIU, the senior dished out 38 assists and had three service aces. In a five-set loss to the Javelinas, the Houston native tied her season-high with 49 assists and also tallied eight digs.
Bradi Marshall, Lubbock Christian, led the squad in assists with 75 in two matches as LCU went 1-1 on the week. She averaged 10.7 assists per set on the week, posting 34 in a three-set match with West Texas A&M and following with 41 in a four-set match against Eastern New Mexico. She recorded her 28th and 29th career double-doubles, which has her with 12 on the season. The double-doubles were stemmed from 27 digs on the week (3.86 per set).
Analise Lucio, UT Permian Basin, ran UT Permian Basin offense to a 2-0 record this week, with wins over MSU and TWU.. She tallied 77 assists, 16 digs, 2 aces and 11 kills for the weekend. Versus MSU Lucio had 33 assists (11.0 assists per set), and 6 kills hitting 0.364. Versus TWU she had 44 assists, 5 kills and 14 digs.
Amanda Van Wyk, UAFS, had a dominant performance over the past three matches averaging 9.16 assist per game totaling at 110. Van Wyk guided the Lady Lions to a .236 hitting percentage while also scoring 27.5 points over the three matches. She recorded 45 assists against Oklahoma Baptist, 29 in the UT-Tyler sweep, and 36 against Texas A&M-Commerce.
Taylor Stoops, UT Tyler, distributed 60 assists (1 shy of school record) in a 5-set road win at Cameron. Registered a season-high 4 kills on 10 attempts as she played the full rotation against Cameron, helping UT Tyler post a .303 hitting percentage (its second-highest this season) to lead the Patriots to their first road win in Lone Star Conference play.
Amari Franklin, Tarleton State, paced the Tarleton offense with 91 assists in 12 sets, leading the Texans to two wins in three matches. Franklin averaged 7.58 assists per set and led Tarleton to a .241 hit percentage, including a season-high .322 hit percentage in Tuesday’s win at Texas Woman’s. She had two 30-assist performances and a double-double with 36 assists and 12 digs at Texas Woman’s Tuesday.
Lindsey Ledyard, Angelo State, was an invaluable asset for the No. 21 ASU Belles. She tallied a total of 32 assists, averaging 5.33 assists a set. Ledyard scored two service aces against West Texas A&M along with 11 total digs over the weekend.
Sarah Glawe, Midwestern State, collected 21 assists and 11 digs to help Midwestern State to a 3-1 win over Western New Mexico on Saturday. In three matches last week, Glawe twice posted 20+ assists. The junior sits 11th in the Lone Star Conference with 340 helpers.
Strealy Sizelove, DBU, helped guide the Lady Patriots to a 2-1 mark last week, including an upset win over No. 22 Tarleton. Sizelove totaled 23 assists in a victory over Southeastern Oklahoma and following a loss to Tarleton on Friday, posted 25 assists the following day to lead the Lady Patriots past the Texans.
