Midwestern State won its second straight and third overall Lone Star Conference men’s title, while West Texas A&M won its first women’s golf championship on Tuesday. The annual league event was held at Diamondback Golf Course in Abilene, Texas.
On the men’s side, the Mustangs finished 4-under-par 848 (285-286-277) led by Garrett Leek, who finished second at 5-under-par 208 (69-71-68) after three rounds.
Texas A&M-Commerce finished second (852), while Western New Mexico (856) was third.
WNMU’s Gonzalo Pan De Soraluce was the individual medalist 9-under-par 204 (67-70-67).
The men’s all-tournament squad included Pan De Soraluce, MSU’s Leek ; A&M-C’s Joe Wolcik and Blake Hartford; and Cameron’s Dario Gabriel .
MSU earned the LSC’s automatic bid to the South Central Regional Tournament, which will be held May 9-11 at The Ledges Golf Club in St. George, Utah.

The Lady Buffs went around the course at 1-over-par 569 (291-278) to break the LSC record for lowest team score in a 36-hole tournament. The old conference record – set by Tarleton State in 2018 – was 571. WT also posted the lowest single round in championship history (278) in Tuesday's second round.
WT was paced by Loukyee Songprasert who claimed individual medalist honors at 3-under-par 139 (71-68). Holly Winter, Kaylin Milholland, and Jelina Fernando also finished in the top five for the Lady Buffs.
Texas A&M-Commerce finished second (589), while Angelo State (600) was third.
Songprasert was joined by teammates Winter, Milholland, and Fernando, along with A&M-C’s Paige-Lee Garris and Sarah Wongsinth on the all-tournament team.
WT earned the LSC’s automatic bid to the West Regional Tournament, which will be held May 6-8 at the Amarillo Country Club in Amarillo, Texas.
