Texas A&M-Kingsville takes down Western New Mexico, 28-20: Texas A&M-Kingsville secured a winning record for the 2024 season by taking down Western New Mexico, 28-20, Saturday at Ben Altamirano Field. The Javelinas earned a third straight winning season by virtue of a three-touchdown performance from quarterback Jalen Brown, who had 219 total yards (85 on the ground). D’Cambren Verrett returned an interception 98 yards for a TD and Xavier Henderson had two sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss and a pass break-up to lead the Javelina defense. Duece Zimmerman had eight catches for 182 yards and two TDs – both in the fourth quarter – for WNMU. It was a 28-6 game after three quarters.

UT Permian Basin rolls past Eastern New Mexico, 64-14: UT Permian Basin had it all working on Saturday at Eastern New Mexico, scoring nine touchdowns while passing for over 300 yards and rushing for more than 250 in a 64-14 victory at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium. UTPB had 29 first downs. Isaac Moorning passed for 22 yards and three TDs, Tyler Cleveland ran for 115 yards and two TDs on eight carries and Jeremiah Cooley caught four passes for 106 yards and two scores. Defensively, Tristan Exline had 12 tackles – three for loss – and one forced fumble and Yemi Oyesanya had 1.5 sacks and three tackles for loss. ENMU’s Matthew Quartieri had 21 tackles, which is the most in a single game in the LSC this season.

No. 23 Angelo State claims LSC title with 38-16 victory at Western Oregon: The No. 23-ranked Angelo State Rams are the 2024 Lone Star Conference Champions after defeating Western Oregon 38-18 on Saturday at McArthur Field on Saturday. ASU claimed its second conference title in three years by winning its eighth game in a row. The Rams improve to 8-2 overall and 8-0 on league play. It was a 17-13 game at halftime and ASU led just 24-16 with 6:10 to play in the third quarter before shutting WOU out in the fourth quarter. ASU’s Braeden Fuller was 13 of 25 passing for 315 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a score. Two of his passing TDs went to Zorhan Ridaeux, who caught three passes for 124 yards. Defensively, the Rams got big games from Jordan McKinney (14 tackles, one forced fumble), Eric Rasco (11 tackles, fumble recovery, interception), Zach Burton (11 tackles), Kenton Allen (10 tackles) and Jatavian Neal (interception). Daron Ulrich Jr. had 11 tackles and three pass breakups for WOU.

West Texas A&M earn 17-12 win over Midwestern State: West Texas A&M made its final home game for 33 seniors a special one Saturday night as it dominated in the trenches for a 17-12 victory over Midwestern State at Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium. WT kept MSU off the scoreboard in the first half, building a 10-0 lead on a Cason Polivoda field goal and Zorian Stanton touchdown catch from Kanan Gibson. WT increased its lead to 17-0 before MSU rallied with a pair of Joseph Carlson field goals and a TD pass from Andrew Knebel to Justin White with 1:38 to play. An onside kick try was unsuccessful and WT ran out the clock to secure its fourth win in five games. WT’s Tre’Jon Henderson ran for 110 yards and JT Cavender had 10 tackles. MSU’s Demonte Gren caught nine passes for 119 yards, Quincy Darnell had 12 tackles and Larry Donnell had 10 tackles and an interception.

Central Washington shuts out Sul Ross State, 66-0: Central Washington used a strong first half to defeat visiting Sul Ross State 66-0 score Saturday evening at Tomlinson Stadium. CWU had a 35-point first quarter before adding 24 more in the second quarter. Eight different Wildcats scored touchdowns. Kennedy McGill threw for three TDs and ran for another and Tyler Flanagan ran for two scores to lead the CWU offensive attack. Tanner Volk had two interceptions for the Wildcats to bring his season total to six, which is tied for the league lead. He also forced a fumble. Daniel Mendoza (one forced fumble) and David Jones also had picks for CWU, and Thijs Van Diepen had two sacks. Quincy Blair led SRSU with nine tackles, bringing his total to 26 over the last two weeks.
