Dallas Cowboys Director of Editorial Content and Lone Star Conference correspondent Nick Eatman and West Texas A&M Athletics broadcaster Lucas Kinsey claimed the 2025 LSC media awards, it was announced July 24 at LSC Football Media Day at McKinney ISD Stadium in McKinney, Texas.
Eatman and Kinsey were each honored by the conference for the second time. Eatman earned the Kirk Hill Award as the league’s most outstanding sportswriter, while Kinsey captured the Jake Trussell Award as the league's top broadcaster.
The awards, which recognize those who best promote the LSC and its members through their work in the media, are selected annually by the league’s sports information directors. The Kirk Hill Award is named in honor of the late Kirk Hill of the Houston Post. Hill won the conference’s first sportswriter award in 1963. The Jake Trussell Award – presented since 1971 – is named in honor of the late Jake Trussell, who broadcasted contests for Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Eatman has attended every LSC Basketball Championship since 2008, providing game stories and game notes for every single contest. He also assists with the all-tournament selection process and photography staffing. He promotes the event, as well as the entire league throughout the year, to his more than 100,000 followers on X. Eatman, who is a graduate of Midwestern State, also won the Kirk Hill Award in 2010.
Kinsey's passion for student-athletes and collegiate athletics is evident in each FloCollege broadcast. The WT graduate serves as the voice for volleyball, football, basketball and softball while also spending time in the booth at soccer, baseball and track. He called every match of the LSC Volleyball Championship this year. Kinsey is an advocate for WT student-athletes as well as the entire conference. He also won the Jake Trussell Award in 2022.
