LSC Women's Soccer Championship Central
The Lone Star Conference 2021 Women’s Soccer Championship bracket is set following the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday.
Seven teams, including DBU, Midwestern State, Texas Woman's, West Texas A&M, St. Mary's, Angelo State and Texas A&M-Commerce, all advance to the postseason tournament, which begins on Tuesday, November 9, with three quarterfinal matches. The winners of Tuesday's games will travel to Dallas, Texas, to join tournament host DBU for the semifinals and championship match on Friday, November 12, and Sunday, November 14.
DBU earned the top seed and an automatic spot in the semifinals after claiming its third consecutive regular-season title in the LSC. The Patriots finished with 36 points atop the league standings and a 16-2 overall record. DBU will face the winner of the quarterfinal between No. 4 WT and No. 5 StMU.
MSU secured the No. 2 seed in the tournament with 30 points in conference play and a 12-3-3 overall record. The 2021 season marks the highest regular-season finish in the LSC for the Mustangs since 2013. MSU will face seventh-seeded TAMUC in the quarterfinals. The Lions' 9-0 win on the final day of the season locked up their spot in the conference tournament by virtue of their head-to-head win over St. Edward’s. They enter the postseason with 22 points accumulated in the standings and a 9-7-2 record.
TWU is the third seed in the tournament after a 12-4-2 regular season during which they registered 27 conference points. The Pioneers were awarded the third spot due to their head-to-head win over WT. TWU will host sixth-seeded ASU in Denton on Tuesday. The Rambelles earned the right to defend their LSC tournament title after completing the season with 23 points and an overall mark of 12-4-2.
WT ended the regular season with 27 points and an overall record of 13-5 and will host fifth-seeded StMU, which clinched its second LSC tournament berth with a 1-0 win on the final day of the season. The Rattlers completed a 9-6-2 overall season with 23 conference points, finishing in a tie for fifth place and winning the seed with their head-to-head win over ASU.
