With just two weeks to play in the Lone Star Conference women’s soccer regular season, No. 1 DBU is unbeaten at 14-0 overall and 10-0 in league play. Their winning streak in a program record.
Due to LSC matches not played because of weather, the conference standings have been adjusted from a point system to “points per match.” DBU has a perfect 3.00 and leads over Midwestern State (7-1-6, 7-0-4 LSC) and new league member UT Dallas (11-2-2, 8-2-1 LSC), who both have a 2.27. Angelo State (8-3-4, 7-2-2 LSC) is in fourth place with 2.09.
MSU has compiled an 12-match unbeaten streak, while UTD has not lost in five matches. ASU has won seven of its last eight matches – all by shutout.
DBU has the top scoring average in the league at 3.286 goals per game, followed by Texas Woman’s (2.4), MSU (2.143) and UTD (2.133). DBU is also allowing a league-low .21 goals per game. UT Tyler is next at .60, then Angelo State (.67) and TWU (.87).
Conference play resumes on Wednesday (Oct. 29) with seven matches followed by seven more on Saturday (Nov. 1). The regular season concludes on Nov. 4 with seven matches.
DBU has had two players – both seniors – earn national honors this season. Defender Parker Coe was named
United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Month for September. She became the first player in program history to earn the honor. Midfielder Anne Louthan was named
Division II Conference Information Directors Association (D2SIDA) National Player of the Week on Oct. 16.
DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the
preseason poll. Coe, St. Edward’s Annie Rocha and TWU’s Amanda Farris were voted
preseason players of the year.
The LSC women's soccer tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for Nov. 7 (first round), Nov. 10 (quarterfinals), Nov. 13 (semifinals) and Nov. 16 (final). The first round and quarterfinal matches are played at the site of the higher seed. The semifinals and final rounds are hosted by the No. 1 seed.
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, UTD and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC tournament but can win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.
