After three weeks of Lone Star Conference women’s soccer league matches, two teams remain unbeaten: No. 3 DBU (10-0, 6-0 LSC) and Midwestern State (4-1-4, 4-0-2 LSC).
Following DBU, the top winning streak is three by Angelo State (4-2-4, 3-1-2 LSC), St. Mary’s (4-4-1, 3-3 LSC) and new league member UT Dallas (7-1-1, 4-1 LSC). MSU and Lubbock Christian (5-3-2, 3-1-2 LSC) have won back-to-back games.
Conference play resumes on Wednesday (Oct. 8) with seven games followed by seven more matches on Saturday (Oct. 11).
DBU senior defender Parker Coe was named
United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Month for September. She became the first player in program history to earn the prestigious honor.
DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the
preseason poll. Coe, St. Edward’s Annie Rocha and TWU’s Amanda Farris were voted
preseason players of the year.
The LSC women's soccer tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for Nov. 7 (first round), Nov. 10 (quarterfinals), Nov. 13 (semifinals) and Nov. 16 (final). The first round and quarterfinal matches are played at the site of the higher seed. The semifinals and final rounds are hosted by the No. 1 seed.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
Ella Spiller, Lubbock Christian, F, So., Integrated Marketing Communication, Coppell, Texas
Lubbock Christian sophomore forward Ella Spiller had a hat trick and two assists to lead the Lady Chaps to a 2-0 week against UT Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico. Her three-goal game – which included the game-winner – came on the road against ENMU and was coupled with an assist. It was the first seven-point match and just second hat trick in the LSC this season. Spiller assisted on the only goal in the match against UTPB. Her 22 points lead the conference.
DEFENSIVE
Samantha White, UT Tyler, D, Fr., Marketing, Georgetown, Texas
UT Tyler freshman defender Samantha White fueled a pair of conference shutouts against St. Edward’s and previously unbeaten Texas Woman’s. She played all 180 minutes. White and company held SEU to just three shots on goal and kept TWU off the scoreboard for the first time this season.
GOALKEEPER
Melyna Martinez, Angelo State, GK, Sr., Management, San Antonio, Texas
Angelo State senior goalkeeper Melyna Martinez made a combined eight saves to help the Rambelles win a pair of 2-0 games against Sul Ross State and West Texas A&M. Martinez, who wins the LSC’s top weekly goalkeeper award for the second time this season, played over 170 minutes in goal. She has helped ASU to three consecutive shutouts in conference play.
