No. 22 UT Permian Basin, Central Washington, Angelo State and Midwestern State all earned Week 9 league wins, while Eastern New Mexico picked up a non-conference victory. To read the recaps, click here.
 
UTPB (8-1 overall, 6-0 LSC) and CWU (7-2, 7-0) are the only conference teams unbeaten in league play. Both have won seven consecutive games.
 
UTPB owns the league’s top total offense (479.4 yards per game), scoring 45.3 points per game. Angelo State has the top defense at 260.3 yards per game.
 
CWU has allowed just 38 points over its last three games.

The LSC has four teams in the first NCAA Division II "Super Region Four" regional rankings, which were released Oct. 30. UTPB is No. 3, CWU is No. 4, ASU is No. 9 and Texas A&M-Kingsville is No. 10. To see all the rankings, click here.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
Kenny Hrncir, UT Permian Basin, Gr., MBA, QB, Needville, Texas, NHS
Hrncir threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead No. 22 UT Permian Basin past Western Oregon and keep the Falcons unbeaten in league play. Hrncir, who wins the league’s top weekly offensive award for the third time this season and second week in a row, was 23 of 37 for 379 yards. He had a 70-yard TD pass to Ben Patterson. Hrncir was responsible for the game’s three TDs in the second quarter (one run and two passes). He rushed for 46 yards on 11 carries.
 
DEFENSIVE
Tanner Volk, Central Washington, Jr., Business, S, Portland, Ore., Aloha HS
Volk had 13 tackles – nine solo – and his NCAA-leading ninth interception to lead Central Washington to a come-from-behind road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville and keep the Wildcats unbeaten in league play. Volk, who wins the league’s top weekly defensive award for the fourth time this season, also had two tackles for loss. Hs interception came in the third quarter with CWU trailing 10-7. Volk led a unit that kept the Javelinas out of the endzone in the second and third quarters. He has had at least one interception in all but three games this season.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS
Ritse Vaes, Midwestern State, Jr., Criminal Justice, K, Wichita Falls, Texas, Hirschi HS
Vaes set a program record with 18 kicking points in a single game to help Midwestern State to a win over Western New Mexico. Vaes, who wins the league’s top weekly special teams award for the third time this season and second week in a row, hit all four of his field goal tries. His longest came from 45 yards. Vases also connected on six extra-point attempts. In addition, Vaes handled kickoff duties and had six touchbacks.
