Lucky 13 LSC Men's Cross Country title for West Texas A&M

 
West Texas A&M capture a 13th straight team title and Texas A&M International claimed its first individual winner at the Lone Star Conference Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday at AP Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas.
 
Ian Rono finished the 8000-meter race in 23:31.5, the second-fastest winning time at the LSC meet, to become the first TAMIU men's medalist. The five scoring WT runners followed in second through sixth, led by Adrian Legarreta (2nd, 23:54.8), Matthys Bourse (3rd, 24:37.2), LSC Newcomer of the Year Tommaso Toppi (4th, 24:58.7), Berry Cox (5th, 25:08.8) and Fintan Kavanagh (6th, 25:10.5)).
 
MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS
 
DBU totaled 77 points to finish second for the third time in four seasons. A trio of Patriots -- Hudson Jospeph, C.J. Hobbs and Isaac Pendley -- finishing 13-14-15, respectively. UT Tyler was third (93 pts.) matching its best-ever LSC finish (3rd in 2020) led by David Soto (8th) and LSC Freshman of the Year Grayson Williams (10th).
 
Oklahoma Christian (4th, 134), Cameron (5th, 169), Lubbock Christian (6th, 188) and UT Dallas (7th, 195) placed in the top half of the teams followed by Top 10 finishers St. Edwards's (8th, 199), Texas A&M International (9th, 224) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (10th, 236).
 
Western New Mexico (11th, 237), Angelo State (12th, 376) and Eastern New Mexico (13th, 416) completed team scoring. Sul Ross State competed as individuals.
 
In addition to the individual awards, the top 15 finishers were named LSC All-Conference.
 
Next for the LSC: The NCAA championship hunt begins November 8 with the Division II Men’s and Women’s South Central Regional hosted by CSU Pueblo at Walking Stick Golf Club (Pueblo, Colo.). Teams and individuals who qualify out of regionals will compete at the Division II Men’s and Women’s National Championships November 22 in Kenosha, Wis.
