LSC Men’s Golf postseason honors announced

Midwestern State junior Seth Bearden was named the 2025 Lone Star Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Year to lead the annual postseason men’s golf awards announced by league officials on Sunday (April 13) at the championship banquet at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club in Rockwall, Texas.

Bearden, who is from Crowell, Texas, posted an adjusted scoring average of 70 and has won three tournaments (The Dunning Invitational, Houston Classic and Oak Tree Invitational). He has finished third place or better in four of his five events this spring and has six top-10 finishes overall. Bearden’s play has helped the Mustangs to three titles. He is the No. 4 ranked golfer in the country.

Bearden topped the men’s first team that also included Oklahoma Christian’s Leandro Mihaich and Oskari Nikku, St. Mary’s Kongpop Kaikaew and Baptiste Touchard, and UT Tyler’s Seth Campbell.

DBU graduate student Aston Castillo took Newcomer of the Year honors after an adjusted scoring average of 72 and four finishes in the top-10, including being runner-up at the DBU Classic. St. Mary’s Elijah Galvan was tabbed Freshman of the Year after an adjusted scoring average of 72.8 and a pair of top-10 finishes.

St. Mary’s Connor McCarthy, in his second year, earned Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Rattlers to three titles – all this spring – and a top-15 national ranking.

In total, 14 players earned recognition. The awards are voted upon by the league coaches.
