LONE STAR CONFERENCE FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

(Sept. 27 games)

OFFENSIVE
Jack Turner, Texas A&M-Kingsville, QB, Gr., MBA, Round Rock, Texas
Texas A&M-Kingsville graduate student and quarterback Jack Turner put together a top-5 passing yardage mark in program history to lead the Javelinas to a 52-3 road win over Sul Ross State. Turner was 30 of 38 passing for 393 yards – second most in a single game in the LSC this season – with two touchdowns. Turner, who added five rushing yards, did not play the entire fourth quarter. His performance helped the Javelinas snap a two-game skid.

DEFENSIVE
Ashton Reynolds, West Texas A&M, LB, Gr., Sports and Exercise Science, Houston, Texas
West Texas A&M graduate student and linebacker Ashton Reynolds had three sacks – the most in a single game in the LSC this season – to lead the way for a unit that allowed just 45 yards of total offense in a 35-7 win over Western Oregon. Reynolds had five tackles – two solo – and his sacks resulted in a loss of 10 yards. Reynolds and company surrendered only 20 rushing yards and kept WOU’s offense off the scoreboard as its only score came on defense in the fourth quarter.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Beau Phillips, Central Washington, KR, So., Construction Management, Snoqualmie, Wash.
Central Washington sophomore Beau Phillips set an LSC record with two kick returns for touchdowns – on back-to-back kickoffs – in the same game and also broke the conference’s single-game kick return yardage mark to help the No. 17-ranked Wildcats to a 91-31 road win over Western New Mexico. Phillips, who also had six carries on offense for 34 yards and a score, ran back kickoffs for 100 yards (tying an LSC record) and 94 yards in the second quarter. He totaled 237 yards on three kick returns to break the mark of 218 set by Texas A&M-Commerce’s Kenzee Jackson in 2010.
