With just one week remaining in the Lone Star Conference men’s basketball regular season, DBU (22-6 overall) is in sole possession of first place in the standings at 16-2. No. 9 Eastern New Mexico (22-4) and No. 10 Lubbock Christian (24-4) are tied for second place at 15-3.
 
Western New Mexico (21-5, 14-4 LSC), No. 14 St. Edward’s (24-6, 13-6 LSC), St. Mary’s (18-8, 11-7 LSC), West Texas A&M (19-9, 11-7 LSC) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (13-13, 10-8 LSC) round out the top eight teams.
 
DBU has won seven straight games, while LCU has prevailed in four consecutive matchups. TAMUK upset ENMU 83-75 on Feb. 21 to snap the Greyhounds’ 10-game winning streak. WNMU has won five in a row, and WT is on a three-game winning streak.
 
LCU’s Amondo Miller Jr. (20.6) and WT’s Fontaine Williams Jr. (20.0) are in a tight race for the league scoring title. SEU’s Blake Nielson is close behind at 18.2 points per game.
 
LCU’s Antonio Pusateri is in the only player in the league averaging double digit rebounds per game (10.7). DBU’s Xavion Brown and UT Dallas’ Peyton Dulin share the assists lead at 4.5 per game. ENMU’s Jose Murillo leads in blocks per game (2.0), while teammate Cooper Jackson is tops in steals per game (3.1)
 
In non-conference play, LSC teams have gone 40-24 against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams.
 
Murillo was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches/NCAA Division II Conference Information Directors of America National Player of the Week on Dec. 2.
 
DBU was voted the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. StMU senior guard Damani Claxton was voted preseason player of the year.
 
The LSC men’s basketball tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for March 5, 7-8 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Tickets are now on sale.
 
The LSC All-Conference and All-Academic awards will be announced live at the LSC Basketball Championships Banquet on Wednesday evening, March 4 in Frisco, Texas. They will also be posted on the conference website.
 
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, new league member UTD and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC tournament but are able to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.

OFFENSIVE
Brock Mishak, West Texas A&M, G, Jr., Business, Fort Collins, Colo.
West Texas A&M junior guard Brock Mishak averaged 27.5 points on 66.7 percent shooting, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists to fuel a perfect road week against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International. Mishak, who wins the league’s top weekly offensive award for the second time this season, scored a career-high 31 in a 93-91 overtime win against Kingsville. He connected on 11 of 18 shots from 3-point range (61.1 percent) and added one steal. Mishak has scored 20 or more points in four consecutive games and reached double figures in 10 contests in a row.
 
DEFENSIVE
Andre Harris, Western New Mexico, F, Jr., Sport Science, Mesa, Ariz.
Western New Mexico junior forward Andre Harris pulled down 14 defensive rebounds and blocked three shots to lead wins over No. 14 St. Edward’s and St. Mary’s. Harris, who wins the league’s top weekly defensive award for the second time this season, helped the Mustangs increase their winning streak to five games. On the week, he averaged 12 points on 67 percent shooting, 9.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists. In an 88-77 win over SEU, Harris had the game’s only double double (12 points and 11 rebounds) and narrowly missed a triple double with eight assists. Harris blocked two shots against St. Mary’s to give him 38 for the season, which ranks fourth in the league.
