Four teams got their 2026 seasons underway last weekend with Friday and Saturday (Feb. 6-7) a full weekend of LSC teams in competition. . . . St. Mary's journeys to Fullerton, Calif., and four games at the Hope International Tournament, including a date with Div. I preseason No. 1 California Baptist on Saturday. . . The remaining LSC teams -- DBU, St. Edward's, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas Woman's -- are in action at the DBU Tournament with all four also opening their LSC schedules at the event.
Opening Weekend Review. The Saints -- St. Edward's and St. Mary's -- competed at the Bluegrass Classic
(Lexington, Ky.). StMU split its four tournament games while SEU posted a 0-4 record. . . . TWU and Texas A&M-Kingsville began their new seasons at the McNeese Tournament
(Lake Charles, La.). TWU outscored its three opponents 42-11 to open with a 3-0 record while TAMUK upended Centenary (La.) to finish 1-2 at the tournament.

'26 LSC Tidbits. The new season is the third year that stunt is an LSC championship sport with sponsorship by five member institutions. The 2026 LSC schedule is a double round-robin format with teams playing two conference-count games vs. each other. The conference tournament is scheduled for March 27-28 and hosted by the No. 1 seeded team. . . . Fifteen individuals were cited as preseason LSC
Stunt Athletes to Watch.
NCAA Championship Ahead! At the mid-January NCAA Convention, all three NCAA divisions voted to
approve stunt as an NCAA championship sport, with its first NCAA championship projected for spring 2027. The sport is currently governed at the collegiate level by USA Cheer with information about the sport, national game results, and the April national tournament accessed at
Stunt the Sport.

Senior Kara Abram emerged as a key contributor to Texas Woman’s strong 2026 season debut, delivering high-level performances throughout the three wins at the McNeese Tournament. Abram had her best performance in the finale against McNeese, where she posted a 22 power ranking, finishing second overall in the Pioneers’ 13-10 victory. Abram’s steady presence across multiple events contributed to the wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Centenary.

Alicia Kenney played a pivotal role in Texas Woman’s 3-0 start to the 2026 season, showcasing consistency across multiple events at the McNeese Tournament. Against Centenary, the junior scored seven in power ranking in both jumps/tumbling and pyramids/tosses, finishing in a three-way tie for the top score in each event. Kenney matched that performance in the weekend finale versus McNeese, again earning top scores of seven in both events alongside two teammates.
