Lone Star Conference volleyball league play is in full swing, and three teams have are still unbeaten: Texas A&M-Kingsville (5-0), No. 7 Angelo State (4-0) and DBU (4-0). Lubbock Christian (3-1), UT Tyler (2-1) and UT Dallas (2-1) have just one loss.
 
DBU (11-2 overall) has won eight matches in a row. ASU (14-1 overall) and TAMUK (12-4 overall) have each won six in a row.
 
Conference play continues this week with 23 matches over Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
 
Angelo State leads the league in hitting percentage (.257), assists (12.77 per set) and kills (13.93 per set). Western New Mexico is tops in the LSC in blocks (2.45 per set), UT Tyler is leading in service aces (2.13 per set) and Texas A&M-Kingsville is on top in digs (17.80 per set).
 
UT Tyler senior outside hitter Melanie Merrill was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s first national player of the week of the 2026 season on Sept. 1. She is just the second player in program history to win the honor, joining Mikayla Ware (2021).
 
ASU is the favorite to win the LSC regular season title this season, according the preseason poll. ASU’s Madi Parrish, Texas Woman’s Alyssa Rojo and Lubbock Christian’s Camdyn Sears were voted preseason players of the year.
 
The LSC volleyball tournament will feature the top nine teams and is set for Nov. 11-14 at the site of the No. 1 seed.
 
All LSC volleyball teams are eligible to win the regular season title and advance to the LSC and NCAA Division II postseason tournaments.

OFFENSIVE & FRESHMAN
Cambelle Brammer, Texas A&M-Kingsville, OH, Fr., Kinesiology, Fruita, Colo.
Texas A&M-Kingsville freshman outside hitter Cambelle Brammer hit. 488 over 4.89 kills per set to guide three sweeps in league play. Brammer, who win the league’s top weekly offensive award for the first time and best weekly freshman honor for the second time, added eight digs, two assists and one block against Texas Woman’s, Sul Ross State and Western New Mexico. She had the most kills in all three matches. Brammer has double-digit kills in 10 consecutive matches and has helped the Javelinas to a 5-0 start in LSC play and six wins in a row.
 
DEFENSIVE
Karrington Crawford, Texas A&M-Kingsville, MB, Jr. Biology, Helotes, Texas
Texas A&M-Kingsville junior middle blocker Karrington Crawford had 13 blocks and led a unit that allowed just a .125 hitting percentage over a 3-0 week – all sweeps – in conference play against Texas Woman’s, Sul Ross State and Western New Mexico. Crawford also added 38 kills, five digs and two service aces. She had a match-high seven blocks to go along with eight kills against TWU. Crawford has 28 blocks as the Javelinas have started league play 5-0.
 
SETTER
Zoe Gunn, DBU, S, Jr., Communication, Istanbul, Turkey
DBU junior setter Zoe Gun averaged 7.5 assists per set to facilitate an offense that hit .322 in conference sweeps over West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. Gun, who wins the league’s top weekly setter award for the second consecutive week, also added 17 digs and three service aces. She had a match-high 24 assists against WT and her fourth double double (21 assists and 10 digs) of the season against ENMU. Her play has helped the Patriots to the best start in program history at 11-2, including eight wins in a row.
