LSC Men's Soccer Championship Central
The Lone Star Conference 2021 Men’s Soccer Championship field is set following the conclusion of the regular season Saturday.
Six men’s soccer programs have punched their tickets to the league’s postseason tournament as Midwestern State, West Texas A&M, Lubbock Christian, St. Mary’s, UT Tyler and UT Permian Basin advance to the championship. Quarterfinal matches will take place on Tuesday, November 9, hosted by the higher seed. The two winners of the quarterfinal contests will travel to Wichita Falls, Texas and join host MSU and WT for the semifinals and championship match on Friday, November 12, and Sunday, November 14.
MSU is the top seed in 2021 after picking up 21 points in the conference standings and accumulating a 15-2 overall record. The Mustangs claimed their first LSC regular-season title since 2010 earlier this week and will host the league tournament for the first time since 2006. They will face the winner of the matchup between No. 4 StMU and No. 5 UTT.
WT earned the No. 2 seed picking up a win over MSU and an automatic spot in the semifinals on the last day of the regular season. The Buffs will defend their tournament championship following a 13-3 regular season and 18 points from eight league matches. They will face the winner of the quarterfinal match featuring No. 3 LCU and No. 6 UTPB.
LCU just missed out on a bye to the semifinals after dropping a 4-3 overtime decision in the regular-season finale to UTPB. The Chaps have advanced to their second LSC tournament in three seasons with 17 points in the league standings and an 8-5-2 overall record. The Falcons secured the sixth seed in the tournament on the back of the thrilling result against LCU and will face the Chaps in the quarterfinals. UTPB finished level with Texas A&M International on points but picked up the final spot in the tournament with their head-to-head victory earlier this season.
Fourth-seeded StMU secured a home quarterfinal match with their win on the final match day of the season. The Rattlers took home a total of 15 points in LSC play and amassed a 12-6 record in 2021. StMU advances to its third consecutive tournament, where they will face two-time tournament team UTT. The Patriots' wild 3-2 overtime win in their regular-season finale secured their spot in the championship with 12 points. UTT enters the tournament 8-7-1 overall this season.
All five men's soccer championship games will be broadcast exclusively on the LSC Digital Network at www.lonestarconferencenetwork.com or the LSC Digital Network OTT app. Fans will be able to purchase an LSC Men's Soccer Championship Day Pass for $10 that will provide access to all men's soccer tournament games for 24 hours from the time of purchase.
