After three weeks of Lone Star Conference men’s soccer league matches, only one team remains without a conference loss: new league member UT Dallas at 4-0-1. The Comets (8-3-2 overall) went 2-0 last week that included an upset win over No. 9 Midwestern State (8-3-3, 4-2 LSC).

UTD has won a league-high three matches in a row and has not lost in six. St. Edward’s (5-4-3, 3-1-2 LSC) has won back-to-back matches.

MSU has the top scoring average in the league at 1.929 goals per game, while Lubbock Christian (4-6-3, 3-1-2 LSC) and St. Mary’s (2-4-6, 1-3-1 LSC) are allowing a league-low .92 goals per game. UTD, MSU and Sul Ross State (5-3-4, 2-1-2 LSC) are allowing just one goal per game.

LSC play continues this week with five matches on Wednesday (Oct. 22) and five more on Saturday (Oct. 25).

MSU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. SEU’s Arthur Souza and StMU teammates Luke Mulkey and Johnny Thurbin were voted preseason players of the year.

The LSC men's soccer tournament will be comprised of the top six teams and is scheduled for Nov. 8 (quarterfinals), Nov. 12 (semifinals) and Nov. 15 (final). The quarterfinals will be held on campus of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds; the semifinals are hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seed; and title match will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE MEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

(Oct. 15-18 matches)

OFFENSIVE
Erik Oliveira, DBU, F, Jr., Finance, Vitoria, Brazil
DBU junior forward Erik Oliveira recorded a hat trick – including the game-winner – in a 4-1 road win over West Texas A&M. Oliveira scored in the 31st minute and then added two more goals over a four-minute span early in the second half. Oliveira is just the third player in the LSC this season with three or more goals in a match. He became the first to do it at DBU since the 2015 season.

DEFENSIVE
Josh Zemanski, UT Dallas, D, Jr., Finance, Richardson, Texas

His performance helped UTD extended its winning streak to three matches and improve to 4-0-1 in league play.
