The fall segment of the golf season begins its wind down for Lone Star Conference teams as the calendar enters the third week of October.
 
Trapp Notches Career Record
A win at the women's Regional Preview Invite (Oct. 13-14) pushed DBU head coach Kenny Trapp to the No. 1 spot for all-time Division II women's golf coaching wins with 93. Trapp, who has three times claimed WGCA Division II Women's Golf Coach of the Year honors (2021, '23, '25), saw the Patriots parlay an 11-stroke lead after round one into a 26-stroke victory in the final round ahead of Cal State Los Angeles. Trapp is in his 20th season with DBU golf.
 
LSC Women
The Midwestern State Invitational has the attention of the LSC with 11 teams heading to the Wichita Falls Country Club Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 20-21). Two other squads -- Texas A&M-Kingsville and Western New Mexico -- play the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii, Monday and Tuesday. ... TAMUK stays on the islands competing at the HPU Shark Shootout October 24. ... Two weeks remain in the fall segment of the 2025-26 golf season. ... The first Scoreboard team and individual national rankings for the 2025-26 season released on Wednesday. Seven LSC teams, led by No. 2 DBU, list in the Top 50 with five conference players ranked in the individual Top 25.
 
Week Six Review
  • Battle for the Belt (54 holes, Oct. 12-13): UTD carded a 54-hole 912 (299, 311, 302) to finish third among the 11 teams. Camilah Porras led the Comest, recording seven birdies and finished tied in fourth place with a 223 (73, 76, 74).
  • Regional Preview Invite (36 holes, Oct. 13-14): DBU captured the team and individual titles to lead eight LSC and 21 overall teams at the region preview. The Patriots carded a 584 (289, 295) for a 26-stroke victory over host CSU Pueblo. Madison Ude carded rounds of 72-70 (Even, 142) for a 2-stroke individual win. Teammates Ella Clark, Gracie Grant and Presley Bolado joined Ude with Top 10 finishes. St. Mary's (5th, 617) and Midwestern State (9-T, 622) were among the Top 10 teams.

LSC Men
St. Mary's is the lone LSC team scheduled this week as the Rattlers play in the Golf Week Fripp Island to Bermuda Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Fripp Island, S. C. (Oct. 20-21). ... The October 27-28 DBU Classic On October 27-28 (Rockwall, Texas) and the Tulsa Cup (Tulsa, Okla.) close the fall portion of the 2025-26 golf season. ... ... The first Scoreboard team and individual national rankings for the 2025-26 season released on Wednesday. Eight LSC teams, led by No. 7 West Texas A&M, list in the Top 50 with seven conference players ranked in the individual Top 25.
 
Week Six Review
  • Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational (54 holes, Oct. 14-15): UT Permian Basin finished second (835-283, 273, 279) and DBU tied at third (844-285, 277, 282) pacing the 11 LSC and 16 overall teams. Oklahoma Christian and UT Tyler each totaled 846 and tied at fifth on the team leader board. UTPB's Ioan Rowe finished six strokes off the leader at third-place (206-67, 68, 71) slipping past WT's Luis Palomo who tallied 15 birdies and tied in fourth (207).

WOMEN
Madison Ude, DBU, Jr., Accounting, Keller, Texas
Madison Ude claimed top medalist honors for the second time this year, helping lift DBU to a team title at the West Regional Preview Invite in Pueblo, Colo. The junior finished at even par for the 36-hole tournament (142-72, 70) and led the field of 109 golfers with eight birdies.
 
MEN
Ioan Rowe, UT Permian Basin, Jr., Management, Swansea, Wales
UT Permian Basin junior Ioan Rowe shot four-under in round one and was seven-under through two rounds before shooting even-par during round three and taking third place at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational (206-67, 68). Rowe posted 12 birdies and finished third in par-4 scoring (3.85; -5) for the tournament, leading the Falcons to second place on the team board.
