The first half of the Lone Star Conference golf season is complete and teams take a break before resuming play in February.
 
LSC Women
Three teams were in action over the final October weekend to finish their fall schedules. ... The golf season resumes in February. The LSC Women’s Golf Championship is set for April 13-14-15 at the Rockwall (Texas) Golf Club.
 
Week Eight Review
  • HPU Southwest Airlines Shark Shootout (36 holes, Oct. 24-25): Texas A&M-Kingsville closed its fall season with a fourth-place showing in Hawaii. The Javelinas carded a two-round 661 (334, 327) in the seven team event. Zoe Dean shot a 162 (81, 81) to finish ninth on the player leader board while teammate Viviana Farias tied at 16th (166-82, 84).
  • The Tulsa Cup presented by Banc First (54 holes, Oct. 27-28): Cameron finished ninth among the 19 teams with a three-round 950 (311, 317, 322). Maria Jose Savora tied at 14th (227-79, 73, 75) to lead the Aggies. 
  • Ralph Hayes Toyota D2 Elite Toyota Invitational (54 holes/36 completed, Oct. 26-28): Weather forced changes in the tournament schedule, with rain cancelling round two of the three-round event. UT Tyler battled to a fourth-place tie (597-298, 299). Arnie Taguines carded a 146 (71, 75) finishing tied at ninth, five strokes behind the leader with Martha Laremark tied at 13th (147).

Week Eight Review
  • The Tulsa Cup presented by Banc First (54 holes, Oct. 27-28): Cameron finished ninth in the 20-team field behind Alois Casalonga who finished in a tie at 25th (219-72, 69, 78) and Carson Wright in a tie at 30th (220-74, 76, 70). Isaac Molloy carded a seven-under 65 in round two for the individual low round among players. The Aggies posted rounds of 291, 286, 301 (878).
  • DBU Classic (54 holes, Oct. 27-28): St. Mary’s posted an eight-stroke victory over runner-up No. 6 Central Oklahoma to claim its second tournament title of the fall season with a nine-under 855 (278, 293, 284). Rattler Kongpop Kaikaew tied for individual medalist honors after posting all three rounds under par (209-69, 69, 71). DBU finished second (866) with Midwestern State (881), UT Permian Basin (886), Oklahoma Christian (888) and UT Dallas (892) following in 5-6-7-8th place, respectively. MSU’s Seth Bearden (4th, 212) and DBU’s Samuel Jenkins (5th, 213) joined Kaikaew in the Top five player list.

LSC GOLFERS OF THE WEEK  |  Competitions October 23-29

WOMEN
Arnie Taguines, UT Tyler, Sr., Psychology, Paranaque City, Phillipines
Arnie Taguines had a solid week as she led UT Tyler in scoring at the Ralph Hayes Toyota D2 Elite Invitational on her way to a top 10 individual finish. The senior shot one of the nine under par rounds in round one at 71 and followed that with a 75 in round two to finish tied at ninth, five strokes behind the medalist. Taguines’ play helped the Patriots to their fourth straight top five team finish in the fall season.
 
MEN
Kongpop Kaikaew, St. Mary’s, Sr., Management, Rayong, Thailand
St. Mary’s senior Kongpop Kaikaew continued his stellar season, tying for individual medalist honors at the DBU Classic with TCU's Lewis Wright, who was competing as an individual. Kaikaew posted all three rounds below par (69-69-71) to finish with a seven-under 209 and lead the Rattlers to the tournament title. Over the fall season, Kaikaew entered the clubhouse under par in nine of 11 rounds and has been in the 60s six times.
