Lone Star Conference men’s basketball league play is two weeks in, and only three teams are without a loss at 3-0: DBU, Eastern New Mexico and No. 8 West Texas A&M.

Of the 17 LSC teams, just WT remains unbeaten on the season at 10-0.

The LSC has four teams ranked in the top 14 of the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top 25 Poll: Lubbock Christian (4), St. Mary’s (7), WT and St. Edward’s (14). ENMU is receiving votes.

This week will feature 32 games – just four conference games – over every day of the week. After Sunday (Dec. 21), LSC teams will not play again until Friday, Jan. 2.

In non-conference play, LSC teams have gone 37-22 against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams.

ENMU senior forward Jose Murillo was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches/NCAA Division II Conference Information Directors of America National Player of the Week on Dec. 2.

DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. StMU senior guard Damani Claxton was voted preseason player of the year.

The LSC men’s basketball tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for March 5, 7-8 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. Tickets will go on sale in February.

Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, new league member UT Dallas and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC tournament but are able to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.
