All Lone Star Conference tennis teams (nine men’s and 11 women’s) have played at least two league matches and only three are still unbeaten: the No. 8 Lubbock Christian men (11-5, 4-0 LSC), No. 24 Angelo State women (15-0, 4-0 LSC) and No. 31 UT Tyler women (12-5, 4-0 LSC).

The LSC Tennis Championships are scheduled for April 30-May 2 at Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas. The men’s and women’s single-elimination tournaments will feature the top five men’s teams and top six women’s teams.
 
The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s regionals will be held at campus sites from May 8-12, while nationals are set for May 19-24 at Surprise Tennis and Raquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
 
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, new league member UT Dallas and Sul Ross State are not eligible for the LSC or NCAA tournament but are eligible to win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.

LONE STAR CONFERENCE TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

MEN’S SINGLES
Kelly Giese, Lubbock Christian, Jr., Management, Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Lubbock Christian junior Kelly Giese was unbeaten at No. 1 singles to fuel the No. 13-ranked Chaps to road wins over No. 30 Cameron and No. 19 Midwestern State. Giese, who wins the league’s top weekly singles award for the fourth time this season and second consecutive week, defeated two fellow nationally-ranked opponents. He opened with a straight-set 6-4, 7-5 win against CU and then rallied for a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory against MSU. His performance helped LCU to its first-ever road win over MSU. Giese has now won 14 consecutive matches and is 9-0 against nationally-ranked players.
 
MEN’S DOUBLES
Lukas Janousek (So., Sports and Exercise Science, Czechia Republic) & Noe Milliard (So., Business, Marseille, France), Cameron
Cameron’s Lukas Janousek and Noe Milliard went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles against No. 13 Lubbock Christian and UT Permian Basin, and clinched the doubles point in both matches. Janousek and Milliard, who win the league’s top weekly doubles award for the second time this season, have won five straight matches. The duo beat a top-10 ranked team from LCU 6-1and broke their five-match winning streak. Janousek and Milliard’s 7-6 (7-5) win against UTPB helped fuel a team win for the No. 30-ranked Aggies.
 
WOMEN’S SINGLES
Vasilissa Kupriianova, Angelo State, So., Marketing, Ryazan, Russia
Angelo State sophomore Vasilissa Kupriianova’s 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles clinched a 4-3 team victory on the road over St. Mary’s. Kupriianova, who wins the league’s top weekly singles award for the second time in two weeks, won 6-3, 6-2 against a nationally-ranked opponent. Her win helped the No. 22-ranked Rambelles stay perfect on the season (15-0) and snapped the Rattlers’ five-match winning streak. Kupriianova is now 7-0 in singles play this season.
 
WOMEN’S DOUBLES
Andrea De Bernardo (Jr., Marketing, Caracas, Venezuela) & AnaMaria Zoric (So., Biochemistry, Zubrovnik, Croatia), Lubbock Christian
Lubbock Christian’s Andrea De Bernardo and AnaMaria Zoric delivered a perfect week at No. 1 doubles on the road against nationally-ranked teams from Cameron and No. 34 Midwestern State. De Bernardo and Zoric, who win the league’s top weekly doubles team award for the second time this season, have now won four straight matches – all on the road. The duo won 6-3 against Cameron to help the Lady Chaps record their first ever team win in Lawton, Okla. De Bernardo and Zoric then took a 7-5 decision against MSU. They helped secure the doubles point in both matches.
